I've been at school for the past 4 weeks, and I still have 4 more weeks to go. I have been dreading going back to work for one reason, my service Manager.

I just can't deal with him. Honestly, no one can, not even the General Manager, who has unsuccessfully tried to get rid of him, but he is protected from the high ups at Corporate.

So what am I to do I was thinking. When I got a call a few weeks ago, from the old service adviser (now internal operations manager) and the director of Operations for the ENTIRE Company. We owned a Saturn store, which we shut down and bought a KIA dealership. They are short staffed so they asked me to come in on Saturdays to help out. Sure I say. (I should mention that me and the internal operations manager are good friends).

They let me know they are looking, but they won't ask me to come over. The first day I'm over there, everyone is SUPER nice and keep hinting to me about coming over for more than just Saturdays. Hmm I say. Start thinking about it, humming and hawwing then I see in my work e-mail they put out a advertisement for a tech, within the group to go over there.

Anyways, Just mailed my General Manager at Volvo, asked him for lunch or drinks one day this weekend. I'm essentially going to do everything in my power to not burn a bridge here. I'm going to be very honest with him about why I can no longer work there. Eventually the service manager will be gone, so I will let him know that long term, I want to go back to Volvo. So the idea from the KIA guys, is that I finish my apprenticeship there (where I will make WAY WAY more money) then go back to Volvo once I'm done and things have changed at the Volvo store.

Honestly at that point though, I'll probably be registered at the U of M for an engineering degree, and working on KIA's will be way more profitable.

Pretty disappointing huh? No more Volvo world for 2 years minimum. But I'd feel bad getting all the Volvo training in Vancouver, just to leave right away. Who knows what will happen in 2 years though. Everything will be different.

The SM at Valentine is a douche. He said I wouldn't 'fit in' the shop even though the only people I got along with were the shop guys.

All for the best though, i'm making triple the cash after he let me go.

I'm with everyone else Jordan, don't burn a bridge. I did when I worked at Crappy Tire and regretted it ever since (I should have been a licensed mechanic by now if I didn't piss the manager off). I say got to KIA if the pay is better, you gotta look out for number one!

Went in for a meeting with my current General Manager.

Was very Blunt about everything.

If things don't change for the positive within 2 weeks, I'll be making the switch to Kia.

But he was very concerned about what I had to say. And I think it was what he needed, to make the changes that needed to be made.

We'll see what happens.

1 week later, I'm staying at Volvo.

Manager was moved to another dealership in the network. That was the biggest issue.

More money, more tool money, EI top ups dependent on my grades at school and no more awful manager All good!

But I still wonder if I'm making the right decision. Guess we'll find out in January.

What's in January? Sounds like the problem has left, so things should be good.

Ya I get an allowance for the year. Only a grand. But it still goes along way. Specially when you just buy whats on sale in the Mac Flier.

January is when I go back to work. I d0 10 months at work, then 2 months at School. Finish May 2010. Then its back to university.
