I was talking with his magnificence the great Viktor ( :P ) last night and as we were talking about our favorite roads around us, I learned that he never came to the Maligne Lake (south east of Jasper). I showed him some pictures of it and he said that it would be a great place to take some group pics and some videos (specially if we have some snow on the road).

He said that a Sunday would be the best day of the week and if we want some snow, we're better not to wait too much, there's not much snow around right now...

We could meet for lunch in Jasper and then head for the Maligne Canyon after lunch. The road is about 40km long with interesting curves and scenery.

So, who would be in the mood for a little meet in Jasper? :?:

That's 8 hours and 800km just to go to jasper and back, not including any stops or side trips. Granted the 93 is a beautiful and fun drive, but that's an awfully long haul for one day and a hundred bucks in gas...

sorry to be a party pooper, but i've got to spend most of my weekends (once i'm back from mexico \:D/ ) trying to get my 242 ready for may!

Considering Banff is just over an hour from here, we really have no reason to go to Jasper. Jasper is almost as far from Edmonton as it is from Calgary...

I'm gonna have to agree with Athal on this one. These young fellas like Viktor gotta get some geography lessons I guess...

1- Which means that the road here are way less busy than around Banff. So less interruption when you're having fun!

2- Agreed! I've never went to, example, Fort McMurray, but at least, I can find it on a map! :P

I guess I should clarify for my position here, as well as others...

I have numerous other considerations when it comes to my spare time, not the least of which is my family. I just can't justify, as Athal said, driving 800km and spending $100 on gas just to spend an hour or two driving on some twisty roads. Nothing against you. Nothing against your idea. I just can't do it, plain and simple. I suppose that might sound hypocritical since this summer I'm driving all the way to Vancouver and back again, just to drive on some twisty roads. I'm afraid that's been planned for the better part of 8 months now and is a bit of an annual excursion...this being the third year.

Again, nothing against you or your idea...it's just not practical or justifiable for me to do it...

yeah i had said in private convo's earlier that not many people would be able to come, and if i did it would have to be a sunday

just told him to throw it out there for interest anyway

ps. i do know geography...just not the scale of a map speaking about cm converted to km...yes red deer is 140km away...but on a map i would have had no clue...i need it in front of me to figure out distance, it's just not on the top of my head

ciao
