After some facebook harassment I thought I better drop by to see what's up.

I'm down to 3 volvos these days, all currently parked. My silver 81 244, 82 242 and a 92 240.

My 242 (b21ft) never really pleased me so I decided to pull the 92s engine and use the block. Going to pull the interior and anything else I want and scrap the car.

Otherwise been spending a ton of time with my son (he's 2 now). Back into the R/C hobby which is nice because I can do it inside, and Bennett gets a kick out of it.

Really hoping to get the 242 running well so I can enjoy it, driving a company truck now the rest of the time so it's just a weekend thing.

Glad to see there are some of you still kicking around here! Did you folks meet up much last year?

Hey Geoff. Good to see you can still take a hint... :P

Good to hear life is treating you well. Hard to imagine you have a son that's 2 years old. No major meet last year...seems like everyone was too busy. We're hoping to do something this summer, even if it's something small.

2? Wow, how time flies. My little girl barely tolerates my RC stuff, but it's not like I have the time to innundate her with it. Good to hear from you!

Hey Geoff!

Nice to see you're still kicking it!

I'm actually going to be moving out into your general area come the beginning of May.

Keep an eye out for a cheap Volvo for me eh?

Where abouts are you moving? Is the oil patch bringing you here?

For some reason it surprises me that you need a volvo, I thought you had multiple volvos to choose from! Unfortunately... I haven't seen a volvo driving around south of Regina in a long... long time. They have really thinned out.

Will do, I'll make a better post about it.

The 92s block is already out and painted...

242 is washed and half apart for engine removal. I'm planning on putting AC and power steering back in the car, that'll take me more time than anything.

How many guys here are running after market engine management these days? I sold my megasquirt back in the day but feel I'll need something if I get back into this. I don't want another 200HP car.

Potash boom actually, and i'll be moving up to esterhazy, though i've been told i need to go watch some racing in estevan by many folks.

I've got a couple to choose from, but none that will pass OOP for less than a few k (A windshield, stock suspension and a plethora of other fiddly work on the 960 would add up to a fair bit of coin)

Geoff buddy!

Whens the great Estevan Volvo Rally??

People have been making big numbers on chipped LH2.4, so that's the way I'd go to keep it simplish.

:x This car is a LH2.2 car! Is it really worth it swapping to 2.4? What kind of numbers are guys making on 2.4? The search is down on TB so I'm have a hard time getting some info.

I need to figure out if I should pull the wiring from this 92 240 before i scrap it.

Ah, 2.2...does the '92 have all the 2.4 parts you'd need? You'd probably like to avoid swapping flywheels I'm guessing...

Well, 2.4 is more hardware work I suppose, but pretty much plug and play. Some kind of programmable EFI might be easier to install but you'll spend alot more time mucking with it- which may not matter to you if this is just a fun car anyway.

Athal

I'm really not interested in tuning anything, so I'm asking these 2.4 questions since it's probably a reality (that I didn't want to face).

I remember from before I need the flywheel, which is a problem since the 92 is auto and I want manual. I also remember people talking about the speed sensor in the rear end being needed? I obviously need to do some reading up on this. If I can get some decent numbers from LH2.4 i will go through the effort of swapping.... again.

Craig, good to see you're still here! If you ever run out of things to do, you are welcome to paint my 242 for a few Gs. [-o< Anyone around here would do a hack job because they would think a volvo is a joke...

You only need the speedo sensor if you're swapping to a tranny without the mechanical speedo pickup for the pre-86(?) dashes (or whenever they switched to electric speedos).

Just the rpm sensor that mounts to the bellhousing. So you'll need to fab a bracket and cut a hole for it.

Otherwise the only other difference is the ECU, ICU, AMM...I think that's it. Besides the harness of course.
