I going to the garage tomorrow to pass my out of province inspection. I will know tomorrow if I can keep my car or if I send it back to Quebec... Image

It *should* pass, but we never know with these guys...

I don't think Ian can do OOP (out of province) inspections...

Nice smiley!

It should pass, but I don't want to see a 3 feet long list of thing to change...

My friend at work arrived with a 6 years old Mazda and they wanted him to change for about 3000$ of stuff (rust on the exhaust line, cracked windshield, etc...)

OOP inspections are nothing but a money grab to most shops, and the province helped them out recently by mandating that all OOPs must be done by licenced mechanics with a proper shop, alignment rack, etc. Now shops get to charge triple what they used to.

I doubt you'll ever come away with a perfectly clean bill of health, but most shops will have some "suggested" repairs and will only flag the one or two critical ones.

Shop around for someone who seems reasonable, rather than taking it to Fountain Tire or one of the big name shops.

Agree with Matt, shop around.
Unfortunatly I cannot do OOP inspections, the shop is certified not the mechanic, the mechanic just has to fill in the proper forms.

YES!!!

It passes! :D

There's only 3 places that does oop in Hinton. Took the cheapest one (Ford dealer who probably never saw a Volvo of his life by his reaction) and it got a 100% note! Nothing to repair or change! 8)

It costed me 155$ (tax included) while the other place was asking 255 before tax!

So? What am I gonna put on my license plate? :?:
