cliffs notes: Neighbour no like two volvos in backyard (very understandable), neighbour like volvos so little he decide cops are needed. Cops come over, give me big fine, need volvos GONE by weekend or bigger fine on top.

plan a) I scrap them both, call my friend and take the black parts car andy bought and the two tone turbo terror and throw them out

plan b) somehow make one car work out of the two, and keep it on the street as a driver

plan c) profit?

please, please help me. What can I do?

Are Calgary bylaws that strict that they can serve up a fine for having vehicles in your backyard?
Geez.

I went through something similar to this a year ago... I think Roj had some fun with it too...

You're not allowed to keep scrap cars on your property. You are allowed one "project" car but that car needs to be kept in a garage the majority of the time. You are allowed as many running, registered and insured cars as you want.

I don't usually get into "I told you so" but...it makes me wonder if a certain burn-out video filmed in your back alley just might've prompted some of the neighbors to be a little less tolerant than they might otherwise be?

I know the weekend that someone complained around here, I was out in the driveway using impact wrenches and angle grinders. If I'm going to be noisy now, I tend to close the garage door...

Sorry, can't offer you any help. I have nowhere to put a car and I certainly don't need to add to my parts stash...

duuuude that blows!

i'm with greg on this one. geez.
i say it's none of your neighbor's business what you have in your backyard. yes there was some burnout action, but at the same time if the cars are just sitting they're not hurting anyone by being there.
that's just my opinion, but i guess things work a bit differently there.

i'm unfortunately not able to do anything to help you... hope you get this worked out :?

Well they weren't always going to be permanent lawn ornaments right? so do whatever you were planning to do with them. Option B i guess, consolidate!

Just wondering about the project car exception. I wonder if he bought one of those costco(or wherever you get them) makeshift car port things if that could work as his "garage" in which it needs to be stored.

Nope, there is another city bylaw about those also. You can set them up for a short time for an event but that is all. I do use one all winter but I cut the sides down so it is lower than the garage eaves and cannot be seen by any neighbour. But if there was a complaint ...

The city makes it difficult to work on any project car outside of your garage

Do they both run? If so:

Plan D - Dukes of Hazzard them. Ya know, try to run each other off the road, bumper tag, parking brake drift into a sideswipe, that kind of thing. Do it off road where you don't need to worry about anything, and then take them both to Navajo for some cash.

Assuming you don't have a whole lot of cash tied up in them...

Lol, both don't run - no.

if they did, that'd be a good plan.

I dont have alot of cash tied into em, and yea, Navajo is plan A, just want to find out if anyone wants to help me consolidate, or if I should just give up?

oh, and to make matters worse, my fiancee left me today.

Those are just red light cameras Derek, and they actually have speed cameras, mounted on poles at almost every intersection back in hongcouver. For car laws, calgary is fairly lax.

Alright:

If anyone wants to help a friend reconsolidate his volvo investments, they are welcome 24/7 before Saturday to help me do that - I'll pay for parts, pop, pizza, subs, bbq, and beer, all i want is some company and someone who knows what they are doing with kjet and these damn volvo parts :-)

I know you all are a busy bunch, so if nothing happens, and it's completely fine if it doesn't - I'll yank off any parts requested and hold on to them, and call up Rob (a friend of mine who hauls shit away) and have him haul the shit away.
