I got a new mountain bike and I went out for a ride yesterday.

It's a Rocky Mountain, from Vancouver.

The trail is along the Athabasca River.

The trail is on the right of the picture.

The view is awesome, the air is fresh, there's almost no bugs or mosquito and there's almost nobody on the trail.

When I say almost nobody, it excludes this one.

I hate my job, but my weekend makes me forget it all! 8)

I hope that last picture was with a pretty long zoom lens. Getting that close to Benny the Bear isn't good for your health...

I saw it on the trail about 40 meters ahead of me, but he wasn't stressed at all by my presence. He saw me and just turned away (I was about to do the same). Luckily, it was not a mom with her child. No, I'm not stupid enough to get so close to a bear!

I prefer to go to play outside and enjoying the nature than to stay at home. I pass my week between four wall of concrete doing a job that I hate, but going away the weekend is what keep me sane.

I have other pics for yesterday (crazier ride), but I'll post them later tonight. I must go to work for now.

I forgot to put the pics of my ride last Sunday.

I climbed the "Palisades" beside Jasper. 11km of steep uphill. (only one downhill for about 100 meters). I'm kinda out of shape, so it took me about 3h45 to get to the top. And it took 25 minutes to go down! (and I went down slowly as I don't know my bike yet).

And finally to the top. The view was worth the effort!

That's the "Palisades". (sorry, I had the sun in my face, I'll try to get a better picture next time I pass by) I don't know how high it is, but you gain significant altitude. At the top, the weather was fresh and when I went down, it was about 30 degre in Jasper.

If I did this trail every day all summer, I'd have legs like tree trunks and enough lung power to climb Everest without 02.

Beautiful view up there for sure!
Keep riding.... your legs will continue to improve.

I'm thinking about getting a small gps. But again, I'm spending too much. I'm not in debt, but the bank account is 25$ higher than 6 months ago when I started to work here...

You're a bit farther from the mountains than I am, but I don't understand why you don't enjoy it more than that... :?
