i had a problem arise today that scared the crap out of me, i was driving today and all of a sudden the temp gauge started rising and didnt stop, as soon as it got past the N i pulled over and checked the coolant. the expantion tank was completely full and coolant sprayed everywhere.

I let it cool for a while, started it back up, let it get to normal, and i noticed that my fan was not coming on, so i checked the connections, they seem ok. So i also squeezed the upper rad hose and noticed that even as the time started to rise higher in the normal it was easily squeezed and didnt seem to have coolant running through it??

again the same thing happend where the expansion tank completely filled. So from what I can tell it almost seems as if there is a block somewhere in the cooling system and the coolant is getting pushed into the expansion tank. The only problems i could think of were:

- heater core plugged(dont know if this would cause an over heat?)
- defective thermostat(brand new)
- air pockets making it so the thermostat is not seeing the correct temp and opening up
- something else?

also i noticed that when i would open the expansion tank cap after driving the car(this is before the problem occured) it would be under a lot of pressure. And i also noticed that im losing a bit of coolant and that it only seems to be happy when the coolant is very low in the tank. what ever i seem to put it seems to get blown out and then it comfortably sits near the bottom of the expansion tank.

yea, i relatively recently replaced one of the hoses which may have caused it. I have a sinking feeling that i may have a leak in my heater core cuz i noticed the interior has been having a slight coolant smell to it. Im going to bypass the heater core, try to get rid of any air and drive it for a bit to see if that gets rid of the small coolant leak i was having. I have to replace the blower motor anyways so i might aswell do it all at once
