I'm really bummed today. I put my car back together yesterday, did the timing and stuff today and started it. Great, its running well. Fill up the coolant and....the head gasket is leaking some nice green stuff near the firewall by the heater core inlet...

I dont know what I want to do, nothing seems to be going for me lately, I'm fed up with nothing working on the car.
Does anyone have something they want to sell me? I'm heading into the last two weeks of school and we are going to the other campus for welding and its a big pain to get to on transit. I just need something to get from point A to point B.

I'm really tempted to drop everything I have and re-brand, I'm just having a lot of doubts about my ability now...

it's probably just the hose clamp, or the hose dude. Head gaskets don't usually blow to the outside like that. Don't be glum chum, the weather is warming, and with it comes happy days!

Sorry to hear about your car troubles Andy.

Everyone has bad mechanical days....most of mine are bad, but slowly I'm learning and getting better at what I do. I dunno Andy, I bet you are and will be a great mechanic.

You sure its coming out at the gasket? Check the hose clamps/hose like Athal suggested. Also take a peak at your head mounted sensors, and even the frost plugs on the back of the head. I had a whole engine go in, only to have one frost plug with a tiny leak at the back of the head. The whole engine came out again to replace it, which stank.

Hope you figure this out dude.

my own stupidity did this one to me. When putting the sensors in I noticed on the 405 head that it didn't have a hole drilled and tapped for the thermal time switch which is used by k-jet for cold-start (not where is was on the 160 at least). I found that they tapped and drilled the hole for that sensor...way the fuck over at the edge of the head where my leak was. I felt really dumb here.

no more leaking coolant, I have a pretty big oil leak though, I suspect its the turbo drain seal, I have to take a look at it back at valentine. Also I think the valve seals may have dried up a bit, smokes nicely when I put some lovin on the throttle.

I was just so frustrated when I saw leaking coolant, put my finger around there to feel the hose and all that and couldn't figure something out and just kinda gave up there. Came home and broke all my drum sticks playing but it was a nice break. Almost bought a bmw tonight but the guy wasn't home.

Dude! Take over the lease on my wife Acura!

I know how you feel man, when I did my motor swap I couldnt get the turbo oil drain to seal and it was pissing me off. Some JB weld helped but the thing that fixed it was ditching on my ex wife! :P

Turbo drail seal I put in didn't cut it, good thing I was at work though, picked up a new one and its all good now I think. I emptied the drain pan on my test drive I think...testing the natural lubrication properties of the bearings ya know.

I'll check the road tomorrow and see if she's leaking a bunch of oil. I'm going to replace the O2 sensor this weekend, noticed the wire is iffy. K-jet is finiky enough already, I don't need it worse.

not that I want to make fun of you or because it's funny, but finally, I'm happy to see that my car isn't in bad shape.

My buddy Dennis from CSR always has cheap cars for sale...

call me if you want something to bomb around in untill the volvo gets better.

Consider getting a 7 series... the only volvo i've ever enjoyed working on.

I'm just hugely bummed out, I fixed my car so I could get to school for the next two weeks because we are in the other campus for welding.

I didn't care what happened to it after two weeks, I was going to take it off the road and ride my bike to work....now i'm just screwed for school. I just hope that the transit strike doesn't happen, cause that would take the cake.

I'll pull the tranny tuesday and see whats up with it, and how stuff works on the linkage. Then I guess thursday or this weekend i'll head to the jy and pull one there.

What on your linkage broke?

Did the rod break? or did the pin just pop out? Pull up your shifter cover and take a look in there. See if its come apart further up, or just down at the bottom.

Yep, take a look Andy, you may be able to fix it with the tranny still in....might be a relatively quick fix.
