Had an amazing Rally this weekend in Merrit. Places 8th out of 21 cars, even beat a few AWD Subaru's...

What i did figure out it my rear 3:73 is killin me...I am tryingt o figure out if the gear sets for a 1030 will work in a 1031? Since Vintage Volvo has them ( http://www.v-performance.com/price_list.htm ) for cheap cheap, but has no clue if they fit a 1031. SAM has them for a 1031 but i have to morgage my house to bring one over. Anyone know whats going on with this?

As well if anyone has a full set of 15" aluminium GT wheels for sale keep me in mind...

3.73 is killing in what regard? Too tall? 240 series Volvos came with a variety of different rear end gear ratios, from 3.31 to 4.56, many of which can be found at PYP and for cheap...

The actual GT wheels were 14". Are you looking for a set of 15" Virgos...like on this car?

I think there are a few spares of those floating around.

BTW...my machinist called today. The spacers will be done tomorrow...

yes on the 15's - i thought they were called GT vergos

Third and forth gear are way too long, i need the turbo to spool up faster and do not need such a high top end speed - 160 on gravel is good enough. Most Rally cars are running a gearing in the 5's...

I've got a set of Virgos, but if you plan on rallying with them, you'd better think twice. They're mighty bendable.

That came off a car that Athal bought for parts. That was on the rear axle. The axle was pushed over about 6", and a lamp post or phone pole or something had pushed the DS A-pillar over to the instrument panel.

Still, I've bent my share of Virgos just driving around Calgary.

Ah, memories....

Funny thing was, that was one of the BETTER parts cars I've purchased! Live and learn....

One of the better deals, maybe. And the car WAS nice before it was wrecked... But I think Darth tops them all for "better cars" that you've owned.

Better deals, from a PARTS car point of view. Remember that '84 760T that I paid WAY too much for and ended up having a shot block, turbo, wiring harness, etc etc etc?

Yes, Darth is the man, but the silver surfer (yes, gay name, I know, someone think of something better) is sure looking nice these days...

I have been rallying on vergos for 4 punishing races and not a problem at all. Mind you, rally tires are 12 ply and run at 36psi.....thats why we have 2 full wheel sets at each rally. How much for your set?????

I am placing an order from SAm any one need anything to save on shipping???

They come with tires, Houston, so how's $200? I'm not interested in separating rims from tires. They're Kuhmo Ecsta 712, 205/55x15, in case you can find anyone interested in trading. Tires have about half life left, but the edges of a few of them are kind of worn.
