Here's a question for all you turbo experts out there. I haven't owned a turbo car all that long so I haven't aquired much expertise or knowledge about them yet.

I've got some oil pooling up in the intake hose that comes out of the intercooler and goes into the intake manifold. There's not tons of oil there but there's definitely some there. What's up with that ? Is that normal ? What does it mean ? Is it a sign of some seal gone somewhere ?

(This is on my '95 944T)

Thanks in advance,

Roger

it'll happen, some oil will leak through the seals and you can't really fix it. Also depending on where the pcv system is located on the intake, that could be the reason for the oil in there too.

Also check for dirty air filter, the turbo will suck and if the air filter is too restrictive it will pull oil past the turbo seals

If you're not noticeably losing oil, don't worry about it. On my rebuilt motor and turbo, I still use ~1/3 quart every 1000km, mostly through the turbo I would guess.

I leak most of mine through my turbo seals, pcv system, valve cover gasket and rear main seal...
