Anybody ever order tires on tiretrends? It's much more cheaper than the best deal I could get in Hinton/Edson.

I've been proposed some Falken452 tires. Anyone knows that brand?

Tire Trends has been around for a while. I've never heard anything negative about them. I'm not convinced they are a better deal once you factor in shipping and mounting/balancing.

Falkens are a bit like Kumho...a bit on the budget side but, like Kumho, they make some very good tires too.

What are you looking for in a tire? Sticky so you don't slide off the mountain roads or hard so they last for 10 years? All season or strictly summer use? V rated? Y rated? W rated? Way to many variables to make a decision based on the amount of info you provided...

There are plenty of choices in that price range including The Yokohama AVS ES100, the Toyo Proxes 4, the Hankook Ventus K104, the Hankook Ventus RS-2...there are others. Read the reviews and draw your own conclusions. The bottom line is almost any new tire will feel nicer than any old, worn out tire so whichever one you choose, you'll be happy with for a little while anyways...

budget tires will be fine. I have high grade michelin tire and they won't last their second summer (and I didn't even really have fun with them) and are really noisy.

Summer tire only, all seasons sucks. I don't care about the speed rate. They must last 60-80,000km for 3-4 summers.

Seriously, the best tires I ever had were budget tires. (GT Radial Champiro, but unfortunately, you can't get them anymore in Canada). So I'm sure we can find some gems in the "budget" tires. You pay a big premium for the name of the big brand.

Edit: By the way, my current tires aren't worn out. The thread is almost new, but the external thread is gone and they behave weirdly (just do to softer material, not bad alignment as the second thread is still square)

are they dual compound or something? because if the outer tread is worn then that is an alignment issue.

I'm sure it's dual compound for 2 reasons.

1- The band on the outside (bidirectional tires) is totaly gone (or close to) and the second thread and all inside thread are still good and the shoulder of the second thread is still perfectly square.
2- My winter tires have more mileage and have a equal use on all the threads.

Is there any good place in Calgary to buy tires? In Hinton and around, it's a real rippoff, it's always about 50% more expensive than anything I can find elsewhere.

I buy all my tires used from 'Big O' or 'Togo Tires' - if not from them, I go dumpster diving behind dealerships :)

MY tires or Poor Boy tires in Calgary are good places in Calgary. If you want a truly excellent tire at a very reasonable price you should buy the Fuzion HRi. I've got them on two of my vehicles and I just rave about them to anyone who will listen. Fuzion is an offshoot/spin-off of Bridgestone and is Bridgestone's vehicle for competing in the lower priced performance tire market sector against companies like Kumho, Toyo and the like. Fuzion is able to produce superior tires at a very low price and compete very strongly in that market sector because they have access to all of Bridgestone's R&D but don't have to pay for it since those costs are already being carried on Bridgestone's books. That way Fuzion can offer tires with better & more advanced rubber compounds and tread designs than their competitors and still match or beat them on price.

Truly, I can't say enough good things about the Fuzions. They ride great and handle fantastic, they're quiet and have very good durability and they give both great wet and dry traction. They're rated as an all-season tire but I would recommend going to 4 dedicated snow tires over using the Fuzions in the winter any day. Pretty hard for any tire at any price to be such a great all weather summer tire and be a great snow tire at the same time.

So if you ask me, don't even look at other brands. Just start looking around for where you can get the best deal on a set of Fuzions and buy them.

Roger

P.S. I have no affiliation with Fuzion or Bridgestone.

like Roj said MY TIRE is good, i disagree with him on the fuzions. I hate fuzions when the first came out they were absolutely terrible maybe Roj has had good experiences with them and maybe they are better these days but i personally stay away from them.

I do like some falkens and kuhmos but lately i have been buying BFG everyone was different opinions though.
