hi guys

the engine is back in, everything is hooked up, flywheel and all that is in - and I hooked the starter on to find out if I could fire the car, see if anything was pooched.

Turns over fine, sounds normal - w00t. did so without coil for a little while to make sure I get oil pressure.

Plugged coil in, no start - wtf?

take wire off coil... oil is coming out of the coil - wtf?! I didn't let it sit with the key on ignition for any more than 30 seconds?!

Ok, try another coil, same crap - what all does a B230FT need to generate spark? I has no sparky! Alternator is grounded, valve cover is grounded, intake manifold is grounded, block is grounded, battery is a battery, everything should be happy - wtf?!?!?!

I hate my life, my computer decided that after getting moved 10 miles it doesn't want to work either, way cool.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK I say.

I need a shoot myself in the head emoticon.

- R

Are you getting any spark???
Connection at distributor,.
If you have spark, what is the timing?
Do you have fuel?

Start a systematic diagnosis, I am sure it is something simple, just a connection not plugged in or something like that.

im not sure if this will translate over to the b230ft but i know that if the k-jet computer is not correctly connected to my distro i dont get any spark(or no fuel, i cant remember) anyways i guess just check the connections like ian said, i dont like the fact your getting oil out of the distributor though, i cant imagine oil is that conductive.

+1 to check that devil of a 700 dizzy if you can. Take it out and spin it by hand. You should see sparks and hear the injectors slowly click and both fuel pumps run. The connector or hall sensor often fails on that leaky miserable POS. Put a 240 dizzy on it in the future. 700s are stupid.

Ignition powerstage in good shape on the inner fender near the battery?

But you DID put the 2.2 distributor from the old engine onto the new engine, right?

It seems when you take the dizzy off of an LH2.2 car, you risk the connector breaking almost always in my experience. I'd take it off and spin it just to check it works and you've got fuel and everything anyway. That or try plugging in a spare known working LH2.2 240 or 740 dizzy and see what works and what doesn't and trace it from there.

Powerstages sometimes just die for basically no good reason at all.
