I'm getting ready to do my AW72-M46 tranny swap on my '95 944Ti next weekend and I'm looking for a volunteer or volunteers to help with the job. I helped Trevor (940 16 Valve) do his swap this last summer and I was hoping he'd be able to return the favour when I was ready to do mine but now he's going to school in Lethbridge now and I'm having problems getting in touch with him.

Anyways, it doesn't look like I'll be able to count on any help there so I was just wondering if anybody else would be interested in getting under the car with me and finding out what it's like to convert a car over from auto to manual. I learned a lot helpin' Trev with his conversion this summer and I'm sure I'll learn lots more this time too.

I'm thinking that I'll start into it next Friday and hopefully will have the job done by some time on Sunday.

At any rate, have a great Christmas everyone !

Roger

P.S. My garage is heated.

I'll take the AW72 if you're just getting rid of it...

I guess whomever volunteers to help me do the swap can have first dibs at it...

Oh... I found out why it won't stay in OD. The kickdown cable appears to be seized. I injected some PowerUp penetrating oil into it but it didn't do any good. I can't get it to free up. I think it has to be replaced but I'm not going to bother with it since I'm swapping it out in a few days.

Just got an e-mail from Trevor so it looks like I'm going to have some help after all. Others can still join in on the fun if they want to. We could always use another hand if someone's interested in participating in this venture. It's a good learning opportunity for someone who's planning on doing the same sort of thing in the future.

Hmm...

I guess that short throw shifter is going to cost some money then. I thought we discussed this and helping with the tranny swap didn't enter the conversation... :toimonster:
