If anyone spies an 850T in the PYP, I'm looking for the following:

2.5T cylinder head (with intake, exhaust and turbo), engine wiring harness and ecu, manual flywheel.

Good to see I provided an early morning chuckle...but honestly if anyone spies a turbo whiteblock in the JY let me know. In the mean time - back to the eBay search.

you shouldn't need an intake, theres one with the block with injectors and a rail. The only thing thats difficult on it is the throttlebody because you will need a manual one.

Dale gave me a good list. There are usually 850s to be had. I have had the flu for a while and have been absent from the inter-tubes. My fever is finally starting to break, and I'm done visiting the porcelain shrine today.

Finding a good head on an 850 can be a bit of a trick, and if it is wrecked in the front, they are a bit hard to get out if all the other bracketry gets mooshed up with the 3rd engine mount.

Anyone know if the N/A and turbo heads are radically different in whiteblock land? In 8V land, the N/A heads, unless overheated or run sans coolant, are often only warped about 1-4 thou. I almost never see a turbo head, even a late model one, without some stress around the seats and much under 6 thou total warp. I often use turbo valves in a late model N/A head (after checking the clearance).

Volvo improved the casting on the redblock heads and used a progressively more ductile alloy for better temp cycling all the way up to 1993. I often look for a late 240 with low miles to donate a head, as they retained the clutch fan to 1993, have no turbo, and don't pop the stupid heater valve thing that closes the heat circuit with the A/C on that the 7/9s have.

Peter does about 2 heads a week on 850/pre 02 70s often with between 150-200K on them. He says he can't find a completely consistent pattern to which will burn some oil or have odd guide issues or a sticking valve, and he sees both some very well maintained 1-owner cars do it and some hammered cars do it or not. I'm not going to find a 2002+ car in the yard really, but I'd imagine a late model N/A head, if compatible with a turbo application would be less worn out junk.
