This was the best battle, the BMW would catch in the corners and then the Tiger would walk away in the straight

...and finally the quiz question of the evening ... does anyone know what this is?

An Allard of some description? Couldn't find anything to match that shape though.

Looks like one of the GT40s showed up. Nothing quite like the sound of that puppy coming out of the last corner and down the front straight at full throttle.

I see Barry brought his equally loud 1800 down from Edmonton. Wonder if he brought that tranny tunnel I was supposed to buy from him 2 years ago?

Thanks for the shots Ian. I plan to take lots of pictures both on the track and in the pits...

There's a 10 minute vid of that same battle from last year somewhere on Youtube. Good fun...

If someone could pick up a case of bottled water I think we'll be set...

Oh...and I don't have any cheese slices for the burgers so if you want cheese, better grab some from the fridge...

Heh...that was going to be my next guess... :P

Otherwise known as the Daimler Dart until Chrysler sued them over it...

Quote:
Versions

The original A-spec version could do 120 mph (193 km/h), but the chassis, a “14-gauge ladder frame with cruciform bracing” based on the Triumph TR-3, flexed so much that doors came open, marring its reputation.[2]

Jaguar bought Daimler in 1960, and were immediately concerned about the chassis flex. They brought out the B-spec version with extra outriggers on the chassis and a strengthening hoop between the A posts. There were also other detail improvements, including an adjustable steering column.[1]

There was a C-spec version introduced in 1963 with some additional luxuries as standard equipment.

2,645 were produced.

Jaguar built a prototype replacement with a neater body style but decided not to proceed with production.

[edit] Specification

* ENGINE: V type, eight cylinder, water cooled, OHV, Bore 3", Stroke 2.75", Capacity 153 cubic inches (2.547 litres) Single high camshaft operated valves through short alloy pushrods. * IGNITION: Coil and distributor with auto and vacuum control.
* LUBRICATION: Submerged gear type oil pump. Full flow filter. Sump capacity 1.75 US gallons.

Day 2 was good. Weather was beautiful. Sports mode on my camera continually focuses and shoots so I got close to 400 shots. Of course, only 20 or 30 will be worth looking at and I'm sifting through them at the moment. Will post up some worthy shots in the next little while. The Daimler didn't run. Not sure what the issue was but I was a little disappointed. Some other cool stuff though. Pictures shortly.

Thanks to Greg and Craig for making the trek up from Lethbridge. Hope it was worth it but I suspect that Orange 911 turbo coming up the back straight into a pack of slow cars at the braking point and passing them before they knew what hit them was worth the price of admission anyways...

Actual picture count is 376. Some nice shots. Just finished going through them but have to go to bed because I can't keep me eyes open anymore. Maybe tomorrow I'll get some uploaded...

Yep! That was seriously crazy great to watch. I was giggling like a schoolgirl after that! Well worth the trip for me.

Thanks Dale for bringing the trailer and providing the food. Great to see everyone that came out.

Great to hear you all had a good time

I had a long chat with the owner of the Daimler, he gave me the full history of the car. he missed the last race Saturday because of a coolant leak at the thermostat, the housing got cocked and was warped but he was working trying to fix it.

That orange Porsche was awesome!!! Was the tube chassis Vette running? The two of them were having an awesome battle every race, but again neither of them were out for the final race, not sure what happened??

... and there was a number of this sort of thing ...

Did any of you see what was under the hood of WMS Mustang?

That looks like a Boss, but I've never seen an alternator mounted there... pretty easy to fab up mounts, but the water flow doesn't look Boss either. I am then assuming DOHC Mod motor? Valve cover profile doesn't look right, but then there are two different heads... might be the other kind to the one I've looked at.

Of all the cars out there the WMS Mustang was the only thing American that sounded like sex.

according to their website, that is a mod-motor 4v... that in a 78 or most likely much newer chassis is vintage...? I feel old before my time

It wasn't PURELY vintage... There were a bunch of more modern F2000 race cars, the one C5-bodied Corvette road racer, the CASCAR ride, etc.

Not to mention all the '79-'86 RX-7s
