'90 745 Turbo - Pricey, but very nice...
http://vancouver.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehic ... Z141038896

'81 245 DL - Looks and sounds good

AND
'84 244 DL
http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z134129108

Need some advice; I might be after a fairly cheap 200, preferably big bumper, must be a good runner, don't care for the body but need something that'll go through inspection; I don't mind if it needs a few cosmetics here and there which I could fix piror. Would approx. $500 for something be dreaming a little?

My most expensive Volvo thus far has been 200 dollars.

There is no reason you should have to pay more? :)

and that '90 740 is RHD (wtf!?) Who would honestly want a volvo in RHD? how annoying is that? Steering shaft and master cylinder in the already fairly busy turbo and downpipe area! argh.

we'll be getting rid of my dad's (previously mine, previously my parents, originally my uncles) '81 245GLT now that the "new" 244 is on the road. It runs fine, has a b23e, and is getting pretty rusty. I'm pretty sure the holes in the spare tire wells are a safety issue though as exhaust can get into the cabin.

if you want a RHD volvo, i can get you one from japan for pretty much the price of shipping and fees, maybe $4k. anything up to 1994, most are very low miles and no rust.

yes on everything except the tranny. only seen a handful of manual transmission volvos go through the auctions in recent years (a 480 and a couple of 122's). pretty much all RHD too.

 I had a 480 manual (non-turbo) and everytime I wanted to change gear I had to lean forward! I'm 5'10" and it was just how I could get comfortable in the seats. Great fun to drive but mine ate engine mounts and had nothing but annoying interior rattles.

I can't afford jack at the minute and finance/loan is out of the question for me so I'll have to stick to my $500. If a few patches was all a 200 needed for inspection (body-wise) then I'm sure that could be arranged... Or is autobody welding really expensive here too.

$4k sounds pretty nice, though, compared to what you'd pay for similar condition here. Just out of curiosity, what kind of price could you bring an Austin Mini in for?

i think we'll list the car this weekend, you're welcome to have a look anytime you're down this way. most annoying thing about it is the 3spd auto, not great for the highway.

austin mini? i'll have to look, i know they list a bmw mini on the auctions, and this is pre-'95 so not sure if that's the same one or not. Regardless, those vehicles, and volvos, tend to sell for $1000-2000, then you just add shipping and the various fees and expenses on top of that.

I got a customer selling his 240 sedan automatic.
I believe it's a 1985 he's looking for 500.00 but the trunk has to be patched up.
Runs good and i believe front brake pads.

What's the mileage on the 245 and do you have any generic photos of it (especially the body)? Fair point about the autobox; I never liked sitting on the highway at 60/70mph on my old '79 (though didn't drive it much), and now 95% of my daily commute is highway, would ya believe!

Anything pre-'00 and at that price will be a Rover Mini. Pre-'90 will be Austin. What kind of information can you get on the cars (model/condition/mileage/transmission/options)? I know when my girlfriends brother used the online auctions the information was very limited. A Mini with a manual transmission and no a/c is a good buy for the enthusiast (most imports unfortunately have this combo). Pre-'93 (I believe) were carb and post-'93 were injection. I'd love another Mini but can't buy one this year; most for sale here are imports and overpriced so I was just curious how much they are really coming in for!

actually, with ~500k it's probably a $300 car, but who's counting. still runs great, just a bit grumpy below -15C (likes to stall) which i suspect is just a dirty throttle body or a small vac leak somewhere. comes with a set of virgos, and maybe even a second set of wheels with winter tires (have to check the inventory).
I'll try and get some pics this week. i'd love to see someone other than the crusher get it.
'90-'91 minis with 50-80k, 4spd manual, 1000cc average hammer price $1200. there's also "mayfair" and "sprite" models which are a little cheaper.
'93 and up 1300cc's go for around the same price it seems. mostly automatic though.
