'Tis the season, it seems... I'm looking at moving on, whether it's taking over the 123GT that Dale rescued or doing something different, and for a change I'm looking at selling all my stuff (again, hah!)

So for starters we have a 1988 780, blue with the blue/black interior. The interior is in pretty good shape overall, though neither heated seat works and the driver's seatback adjustment isn't working. All the glass is good except for a small star in the windshield that I've had filled but it's still visible, and all the lights are good except for a taillight that's cracked near the license plate and one of the headlights gets a bit foggy. There's a few dings and dents, and the clearcoat is peeling off the roof/trunk (it was re-cleared once in it's life), but there is ZERO rust on it or under it. The car came from Oregon originally, then to Washington, then I brought it to Calgary. It's a US car so its speedo is in MPH, but don't hold that against it please. It's a V6/automatic car, and the engine is a bit sick: it has a head gasket leak, the compression is uneven, and the timing chains probably need to be done. The wiring is kinda starting to decompose too, but most of y'alls would probably swap in a turbo-4, which is what I planned on doing. It would come with Bilstein shocks all around and Toyota Previa rear springs in the back, plus the 780 Turbo 15x7 multi-x wheels. The tires on these wheels are poor. I'd like to get at least $2,000 for the car.

I also have the engine & most everything that came out of my 740 - fuel pumps, airbox, hoses, power steering pump & plumbing, motor mounts, etc., that was all planned to go into the 780. The engine is a B23 built by Richard Thomas (CNGbrick), with forged Buick pistons and BMW piston squirters. It was balanced and the block deck was o-ringed, though it wouldn't stop leaking so the o-rings were pulled. The head is a ported 530 with big stainless valves and lots of chamber work to get the compression ratio down to around 9.2:1 (with a stock 530 it would be 10:1). It'll come with an Enem V15 camshaft, installed and degreed, and a brand new head gasket set. I'm kicking myself that I didn't pull the engine wiring harness when I pulled the engine, but I ran out of time and planned on Megasquirting it anyway. I've personally got over $2500 in the engine, but I'll let it go for half that.

I've got turbos: on a 90+ manifold is a 60/63 oil/water cooled T3. I've got a Holset HX-35, an HY-35, a brand new Garrett T4 of unknown specification, and a few other parts. I've got intercoolers: stock Volvo, Ford Powerstroke, and Nissan UD.

I've got lots of spare parts as well: I think 3 sets of 700-series clutch/brake pedals (1 cable clutch and 2 hydraulic), a V6 flywheel/clutch/bellhousing for the B27 (would work on the B280 if you cut the teeth for ignition), an M46 that has a bunch of new parts in it, but needs front/rear gaskets and has an overdrive that slips in reverse. I have gauge clusters for the 780, some interior bits with colours that don't match, and possibly the original airbag steering wheel (there's a fancy Personal Fittipaldi wheel in the car). I've still got the stock LH2.2 ECU and ICU and a chipped ECU (Fredschips), and much of the stuff I was trying to sell earlier this year. I've got an 850 dog gate, a 740 dog gate, yadda yadda yadda.

I'm not desperate to sell anything, and I'm not willing to part anything out until/unless I get the car sold. At the moment, I'm mostly looking for interested parties for that. I know I could sell the cam and the turbo stuff pretty quickly if I wanted to, but I won't until I don't have a car to put them in.

man that 780 is such a solid base for a project car...are you listing it anywhere else?

Not yet. As I said, I'm not desperate to sell or even positive that I want to. I like the car, but I'm not in love with it, and I've never really been sure what to do with it. If nobody from here wants it by springtime I may get serious.

My buddy is looking for a turbo for a rear mount project, do you have prices/pics of the holsets and the "brand new Garrett T4 of unknown specification" ? :)

I'll get some pix in the next couple of days, Raz. I don't have any at the moment, and I'm not taking pix of EVERYTHING, before anyone asks. That T4 is BRAND NEW, comes in a Garrett box.

The "unknown" part of the T4 is the compressor, Raz. It's some proprietary OEM blend, the same one that Athal was selling a while ago. The turbine is a P trim 0.96 A/R radial inlet single scroll, IIRC. The HX35 is also now a single scroll, and that I do have some pix of, starting here: http://www.members.shaw.ca/uglyduck/745 ... 0small.jpg

Remember, nothing is really for sale 'till I get rid of the 780, so I haven't really spent much time thinking up prices for the little stuff.

oh man, if I had the time, money, and space, I'd give that 780 a good home. I still want a nice clean 2-door some day, though at this rate, wtih the amount of time i seem to have for "projects" lately it will be a hard top c70 in a few years. or an e30 M3, or a lotus...

The compressor I had was *I think* a T04b T3/4 trim, .60 A/R. I never found a compressor map for it, but it was somewhere between an S trim and the next smaller one I could find a map for. I'm pretty sure it was just barely getting into it's efficent range at 11psi near redline on my 2.3... moved alot of air.

I know very little about turbos, but if that T3 mounted on the 90+ manifold would be suitable for the YROG's +T setup, I'd be interested in that. My current turbo has a lot of shaft play, and is blowing oil everywhere.

I think that T4 is right amount of enormous, let me know what you want for it once you have sold the 780.

Got a pic of that 740 dog gate? Think it'll fit a '97 965?

Sorry, Richard - I meant to get back to you on this but forgot, and your recent post in another of my threads reminded me.

It looks like this:

Image

Vlvworld.com says that there are two different part numbers for the 940/960, splitting in '93. The early cars use the same P/N that the 700 series uses, and the later ones get a different number. I don't think it's going to work out for you, unfortunately.

And I guess with the current crop of 123GTs sitting at my house, I've got to sell this 780. If someone's interested in it before the spring, fine, but I'd prefer to sell it once I've had a chance to get a few things dealt with, and can go over it one last time. It won't go into the papers or on Kijiji until late spring early summer, so y'alls have some time to think about it.

This is a picture the PO took of it:

Image

I added some wheels that won't come with the car (it'll come with the ones shown above), but I don't really need them anymore so we could probably work out a deal:

I don't have any pictures of it online after I got it all together, and the one above is a "before" pic, but is close enough to the way I've driven it for the past 2 years.

Thanks Matt, I wonder if there is a significant difference with the gate itself or just minor hardware changes... something I'll have to look into.

Richard
