Hi - been reading here for an hour.... I just have a simple question, and better ask it before I get going: After seeing the pics of Dustin's cross-member with the holes on top spreading-out from the shock, I installed my shocks yesterday. My simple question is: how much to I crank-down the bolts on top and bottom? I'm using bilsteins and I'm told now that they are going to be a little stiff, but I guess I can't help that now.

BTW: I'm putting the bolts back in that were there in the first-place, and they are not grade 8 -I guess the shock should take most of the er.... shock?

I have pics of the car, but can't find the cable to download 'em (yet).

Thanks all.

There is a spec for that in the Bil manual - I've always done it until the bushing is a little squished, but not barreled out. That's enough. The rear's are over valved, the fronts are fine IMHO.

Thanks, Craig. and I'll keep an eye on that hole in the top. Actually, I'll be keeping an eye on a lot of things - it would be a shame for something to break because I forgot to tighten-up a bolt somewhere in all those suspension bits....

 BTW: Did you get brake-lines done-up (where?)

(Surely, I can "jack" my own thread)

I've got IPD stainless brake lines on the car - the hard lines I did myself (where required). There was a guy on the Brickboard when I use to hang out over there, that had the clutch cable done in stainless - so I bought one. His name is Chris Horn. I'm sure Matt and Dale could have one made in Calgary for you. This was a great upgrade.

Hi Craig, and anyone-else who is reading.

Ok. I'm not sure if by SS brake lines you mean you bought actual tubing, or hoses covered with braided stainless. I'm asking because I had some of the latter made at Green Line, and the ends that go into the block do not rotate independently of the hose. Also, they are fatter - so fat, I would have to shim-out my brake block.... And they don't seem to thread-in more than 1 1/2 turns! All-in-all, I am going to have to return them, and need to know what other options there are. I asked about it when I picked them up, and the fellow said those ends were all they had. I realise now, I should not have taken them, but.....

They are pricey, but I can't see putting in anything less (I broke one when taking-off the front gear). I'm not thinking there is any improvement per se, but you say they are a great upgrade, what do you mean by that??

Thank -u!

James
