Hey all!

I know I didn't give much news for a while, I've been crazily busy with work.

After a year discussing about it, the company will finally give me what I wanted.

I'll be transfered to Peru for a year!

I'm starting sometime in January, so I have 6 months to learn spanish!

I'm so excited, it's a life experience that I wanted so much, never seriously expected that I would get it for real!

I'm a mining engineer and worked for years as a drilling and blasting engineer. That's what Ian's refering to.

I'm going to work at Antamina mine, 270km north east of Lima. It's in the top 5 of the world's biggest mines.

The mine is between 4,200-4,700m above sea level

takes some adjusting, but it's SO beautiful up there (well, maybe not around a mine...)

The scenery around the mine seems awesome

But I won't work 24/7, I'll have time off to travel! (I hope )

Niiice! So do they make you stop halfway up the mountain for a few days to adjust to the altitude? What company are you with? That's a BHP mine right? Are you U of A alumni? Gonna have to send pictures! This is almost like porn for us miners.
