so who would i talk to for an 60-2 tone ring on a crank gear? then i could use lh 2.4....

Guess I never did answer that email, did I?

We don't actually make trigger wheels, we just make pulleys with the correct sized step to accept an EDIS trigger wheel. Some have drilled holes in the edge of a flat flywheel. I've got a spare 2.4 flexplate that has the tone ring on it. Unfortunately they are spot welded on so getting it loose would be a bit of a chore...

Hmm, what kind of interference fit are they? Would 0.05" tolerance work? I might get a sheet cut up

OMG - what colour?????

Well, I found a pic of a nice 122 wagon that was a two-tone green - I'll see if I can post it on here. What I like about it was the two-tone - which surprised me, as I think it looks lame on the sedans. Also, the spoked rims (which I have).

What is this car going to be for? Are you gonna drive it around town, or just race it on weekends?

Let's see if I can get this pic loaded....

There it is.

is what the pearl looks like in powder form.

so that with a red tinge to it should look super cool.

i'm probably going to use endura paint to run this in with, and see what happens.

so in 3-4 weeks i should have a hood painted just to test what this will look like, expect some pictures then.

as far as the purpose of this car, it's a "Performance" build, but more in the sense that i'd like it to be able to hang with say a stock e36 m3 and still be comfortable to cruise in.

It'll get driven probably daily in the summer, i'm building a car that is intended to be reliable enough to bomb across the country on a whim (I'll get bored every once in a while and drive to ontario or b.c. or somewhere to see a few friends) so the simpler and more stock parts i use, the better it will be.

Redblock reliability and an over-built drivetrain should give me what i want.

If Endura is still the Endura I knew in the '80s, it's not a paint to be fooled with. It's tough as nails but pretty much CANNOT be removed, and if you're doing something like a pearl (which will be nearly impossible to match should anything happen) or a test panel, you'd better be sure that you want it looking that way and confident in your ability to spray sheets of glass without runs.

Now, if anyone knows more than me about this stuff, please feel free to step in.

This might alleviate some problems with intake manifold fitting...

Bolts right in...including brake line...

It is still a VERY tough paint, but also deadly easy to spray. I've used it before, and had great luck. Does require a fair bit of being careful with it though. The test panel will likely be the spare tire cover, so matching that won't be much of a worry. I'm going to have to measure my proportions super well, and yes, like any custom paint one deep scratch and I'm boned. There will also be a LOT of clear on this car to help make the paint "repairable"

Hmmm, define a lot? The general consensus is that 3 coats of any modern clear is lots. More is not better in the world of paint. I echo Matt's comments re the paint. I've fixed a few cars that people have sprayed themselves with tremclad and such and it's no fun (unless chemical stripping is your idea of fun). Proper car paint is actually not that expensive. Oh and to finish my thought on the clear, it is not used as a blocking filler, that's what 2K primer is for - show car paint application would be 3 coats clear, wet sand until smooth, 2 more coats, wet sand and buff.

2k primer
Block sand
Base coat black
Pearl chameleon paint (probably 2-3 coats)
Red ghost 2 coats of clear
3 coats clear
Wetsand
2-3 more clear.

Lots of paint, yes, but it'll be worth it.

Ps: endura is proper car paint, and darn tough stuff at that!

Costs more too - you have to use their primer, I believe.

I had my last 122 painted with it, and the couple of runs sanded-out Ok.

hey! look at that, 60-2 trigger wheel for $40 add shipping and one of Dale's adapters and i'm at ~~$200 to run LH 2.4....

complete LH 2.2 system is $250.... 2.4 is better, and more capable...

then again, i've got a set of b230 H beams, an underdrive pulley and a 16v head...... augh!

Ah well, looks like the fast money is on adapting lh2.4!

Are you sure the OE VR sensor will work with the smaller trigger wheel? I'm not.

I'm pretty sure it won't, BUT there are plenty of aftermarket solutions available. Just gotta check what voltage it is.

Adapter? No adapters for the B230, just the B21/23. The B230 is a pulley and trigger wheel mount, all in one; 2 or 3 groove.

Yep, have a b230 for the 16v eventually

Will be ordering a b21/23 adapter this week.
