I am looking to get my 85 244ti parts car off of my driveway fairly soon (within the next month) and was wondering if anyone wants the b21ft engine for say $50. It's still in the car and turns over by hand, I have never had it running or performed a compression test. I have zero history on the car and the odometer reads 197K miles (US car) so being a 240 you can take that FWIW. You're free to come and do a comp test and inspection any time.

I am also offering the one side of my heated garage to come and pull it out if it's done in a timely manner. I have tools and an air compressor, you will need to find a hoist and a stand to pull and support it. We'll also need a few bodies to push the GT out, this one in, and the GT back when done. I will also help as much as I can.

Oh man. My mind is going a 100 miles an hour now. Maybe the Smurf needs a turbo engine. Quick! Someone talk me out of this!

Sorry buddy, I'm not known for making responsible suggestions. Though it would be easier to swap in a B23E

Matt, can I have one of your technical dissertations on this? :D Is it just the switch from carb'd to FI?

Oh yeah, it'll be just that simple!

Much would be needed. That's about as far as I've thought it through. It'd be simpler for Greg because he's already got a fuel injected B20. He'd just need EFI injectors, rails, FPR, and the LH2.2 system including O2 sensor, temp sensor, and knock sensor, and to translate the '75 dizzy to what LH needs. For the carb delete, you'd need all that plus the injection manifold and divorced exhaust manifold, HP pumps, an injected cylinder head, and likely lots of other stuff.

This LH2.2 discussion reminded me that I have a pile of stuff stored in this car that I got from Pat Finn when he wanted to clean out his Volvo stuff. There is a bunch of LH2.2 stuff that is free to whomever can use it, I have nothing that's 2.2 now (or ever to be) so I have no use for it.

 Yeah, the LH would be a nice swap, although the major problem at this point isn't the fuel injection but the engine itself. I fear its on its last legs, although I have no hard proof. I suspect its still got lousy compression, it occasionally runs on three cylinders when cold, and now its puking oil out of somewhere when I shut it down, as evidenced by the cloud of burning oil that emanates from my hood. Realistically, Craig's thought about the b23e would be the way to go (if he'd go whiteblock soon...hint hint), as the swap would be simpler, and the b23e is of known quality. But then I get thinking about the car itself, and realize that its a massive rust bucket now, and so putting a new engine in it is kinda pointless. I'd be better off with a cleaner car. Sigh.
Sorry for the threadjack Jim.

That said, what is wrong with the 244 Jim? Was it ever running for you?

^^ No worries on jacking, as long as you don't start prattling on about Carelton Motors in Ottawa blah, blah...

This is the car that came from around Barons, the seller got it as a debt/favor repayment was going to fix it up but had no clue about them thar fur'in cars. I have been pulling bits and pieces off as needed and generally pissing off my wife that it's still here. I had a battery in it and tried starting it, pretty sure it's a fuel issue but I spent very little time on it. It is VERY rusty, the butt cheeks are mostly gone and what's left is the consistency of potato chips. Doors, fenders, rockers etc. etc. are rusty, it's parts and squish time for this one. Oh, and it's autotragic to boot...

Lethbridge Auto Parts has a deal for the next 30 days that pays $75 and free towing so I figured I should try and get a couple bucks out of it and make points at home too. This is why I put the 30 day time limit on pulling the motor as I need to move it no later than Dec. 15.
