Hey all,

Just looking for some parts, not having much luck on Tbricks, just thought i'd check to see if anyone has any of this (semi) locally. And if anyone is willing to ship it to Saskatoon.

944 stuff:
-ipd sways
-940 ecodes + eggcrate
-billy HDs + springs (for sedan)

745 stuff:
-ipd sways
-turbo clutch & pressure plate
-wagon hatch struts

If anyone has anything else they want to sell that they think i could use let me know!

-Sol

FYI, most stuff, including sway bars, is interchangeable.

I have a set of front bilsteins you're welcome to have. One is shot, but might be worth seeing if they can be rebuilt.

Why aren't you buying a new clutch disc and pressure plate? That's like buying used brake pads...not saying it can't be done, just...

the reason i made the distinction is that i didnt know if the rear sways were different irs vs. live axel

Thanks for the offer on the bilsteins...i'll have to look into if that can be done. I'll get back to you!

also, the reason i ask about the clutch parts sis just in case people have a newish clutch they for some reason dont need...also i cant seem to find a sachs kit for under $400 shipped :? ...and i need 2 of them.

Ah, 944 SE with IRS, that IS another story!

The bilsteins can be rebuilt, you just have to send them to Bilstein (obviously). Not sure what they charge these days.

FCP lists a sachs kit for a 1990 740T for $265+ shipping, so that's one option. I see one at worldpac in Calgary for $375, so shipping from the US is probably your best option.

Am I the only one who finds this obscene ?? what a more than 30% differance....we have had pretty much equal dollar for ages. I say we all get together and "occupy" something !!

FCP shipping rates were pretty brutal last time i made up an order...I'd have to order a lot of stuff for it to be worth it. Oh well.. sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and open up the wallet #-o

I find FCP shipping rates to be quite reasonable, myself. That is, when compared to everything else...

But regardless, I wish I could help you.

Are you looking for REAR Billy HDs or for fronts? I'm assuming rears since you're asking for springs too. I'm also assuming that since you're looking for this stuff you've got the early IRS with coil springs and not the later stuff with a leaf. I'm not sure when the later style started - it might just be in the 960/S-V90. There was a dude in Edmonton who had a set like this, I think, but it was a couple years back.

Alternatively you can go to PNP and grab the rear springs from a Toyota Previa. There are two styles - the "parallel coil" which is softer and the "progressive coil" which seems to be firmer. I've got the progressives in my 780 and Dale had the parallels in his 960. For shocks I am using a Billy HD with the bottom eye cut off and the Nivomat bottom eye welded on (I received the shocks this way) and Dale pressed out the lower eye sleeve from his Billy HDs and installed the pin from the Nivomats. Dale needed centering bushings to keep the shock from sliding sideways on the pin - without them the shock slides sideways and rides against the control arm.

Haha, wow you guys are great...i'm taking notes here.

To be honest, i was kinda hoping for just a bolt-in solution...I have little to no experience in the suspension department so i decided it'd be better to start easy with bolt-ons and get more crazy with it as i gain the experience.

I came from the Nissan/import world, where performance upgrades just meant brand whoring your car... so i definitely want to learn all of this as i go

But to answer your question...i do want both fronts and rears. Bilsteins just seemed like a good route to go. Rears do have springs, although i'm not 100% sure if they're actually in fact nivos. I haven't really had a good look at them on my 944 yet. (it's a '94)

Every RWD IRS came with Nivos. The question I have is when they changed from coils to leafs. I'm guessing it's in '95.

IPD is the only purveyor of bolt-in solution for deleting the Nivomat suspension, and I don't think they offer a lowering kit. I don't know if they valve the Billy HDs any different from the way the live axle gets 'em, and the Billy HD fronts are just awful for 700s. Then again, if you're used to stiff sports cars you might be okay with them.

Scratch that, I think Triangles Unlimited build something for these suspensions too, if you're prepared to open your wallet.
