Thanks boys!

Issues so far- needed $1200 in new tires  , and a few small bits and bobs (original cabin and intake filters I think  ). A/C was low, and I'm afraid *might* be leaking at the evap, but we'll see. Diff leak, which is a 5 hour job to reseal, but I think it's something that can wait, and there is some driveline vibration, which I think is due to some old mounts, getting checked this week.

Otherwise, it's smooth, fast and comfy. Feels a tad down on power, compared to the E50, but the plugs were pretty black (lots of short trips) so I have $100 of new plugs ($6.50 x 16!) and hoping with that, and some good italian tune ups she wakes up a bit. Also, fuel economy so far seems actually pretty good, but I haven't even gotten through a whole tank yet so not sure how accurate the gauge is. Oh, and the headlights are still super hazy, so more work there.

Nice Wagon !!! did you buy that in Calgary ? or was that the other one that came up in japan ?

Yep...the italian tune ups might work, I picked up one of these, same color as well for a friend in Calgary.
It ran badly when we got it, misfire around 4500rpm, fresh tank of gas, and a few WOT's and by the time I got to Calgary was running much better. Absolute blast to drive, and sounds fantastic !!
Parts are pricy....hope you dont have to do the brakes, pads n rotors for the front was about $900
Benz only parts....easy to change.
My friend said that is not to bad , as the front rotors and pads (parts only) for his RS6 were $1400

Yup, fresh off the boat from Japan, the Shogun Wagun!

Pretty much standard E55 specs(5.4L V8, 354HP, 391tq, 5spd auto), with the exception no touring models were sold in north america. 85,000km, so barely broken in, though, like many Japanese cars, likely only got proper maintenance for the first 5-10 years (looks like the cabin filters were last changed in 2005, so that's better than the last car I had!).

I say it feels down on power, but it's hard to tell for sure, there's still alot of it! Definitely the transmission shifts a bit slower than the last car, so that doesn't help. Need to get the fluid checked (takes a special "tool" to do that). Brakes have another year or two thankfully. Ya, priced them out, $350 per rotor, but I can get pads for around $100 so only $800 for the fronts! :-P

It definitely doesn't sound nearly as good as the older M119 4-valve motor, but it's definitely a powerful V8 sound. I'll try and do a side by side video for comparison.

Very nice - sounds like only some basic maintenance issues and you're good to go...85K on the clock - nice.

You know the sad part.... They use a 13 in front rotor.... I just replaced the rears on my Silverado, yep...13 in vented rotors , cost..... About $ 70 a piece. If that isn't ridiculous!!

Basic maintenance on a Benz is not cheap...
Hopefully you don't have sensor issues.
The other one in Calgary is now in at the shop cos it won't idle..... Cha Ching. It has 110,000 on it, and other than front tires, brakes, and drl's passed the inspection well.

Luckily I can do alot of work myself, and have a couple of good shops I trust when the job is too big. Sure, same rotors, but e55 production ~12,000. Silverado...probably a couple more!
Here's some more shots:

Full sized spare on one side, road kit, first aid kit and CD changer on the other. Brilliant packaging!

There is one in Calgary?!? Well that settles it. I'm not getting one of those. They're way to popular... [-X
