After some trouble shooting, we have come to the conclusion the dizzy is bad (keeps going full advance). What is everyone suggestions on where to obtain a new one?

Is used prefer? Order something from a local auto store?

Thanks,

I think the easiest option is to use a 123 ignition distributor. It's fully plug-and-play electronic, so you have no points or mechanical advance, it gives you the option of several different curves, and is considered quite reliable.

At 400 bucks for a unit going in a motor I don't plan on keeping in the car seems bit much. Appreciate the response. Is there any other options?

Thanks,

You don't need a new one...simple, take it apart and clean up the parts. They're sticking for the usual reasons. If your not keeping the engine, then it takes about an hour to two and a pair of spring clip pliers to do the job. The bushings sometimes go bad, but that isn't all that common. Other than going new (as Matt has pointed out) this is your only option...other than eBay.

I can't recall if we did that or not. If not, we'll give that shot.

Thanks again!
