Went out yesterday aft. to have a quick look, with the windchill it was very brief. It's an 81 244 GL, burgundy over tan cloth and VERY rusty with a dirty but relatively intact interior. The sides of the car are painted with bedliner about 12" up full length. Has a b23? with m46, the ? is due to the fact Pat did a motor swap at one point so could be an E or an F as he said he just grabbed a b23 at PnP and did the swap?? It's actually Pat's Dads old car, and Pat/family owned it for a number of years as well. If not for a leaking heater core the car still drove fine and the PO would have kept it, Pat said he drove it in to the yard.

Cool! I'm game, more or less just to experience the excitement of seeing a 240 in the junkyard. Probably won't happen much in the years to come. So, we're not 100% sure what engine is in it? Was Pat sure it was a 2.3L? If so, and its K-jet I'll be out there this weekend pulling the cam.

That's the rare and desirable 162 that was never made. Built from a 142 as it's got a B20F, not a B30. It once had an R-Sport cluster in it too...

Pretty sure he was sure it was a b23, you could call him first? I know he didn't know about the difference in the cams, and he didn't check what head was on the replacement when he pulled it just that it was a b23, hence the possibility of an E or F head. I thought about pulling it yesterday, it's pretty grungy so I never bothered looking for casting info on the head to try and figure out what's what. Figured if I pulled it I'd know quick enough what it is.

If you need anything for FWD Volvos go to PnP 52nd St. There must be a dozen of them there. There are at least 2 960s at Barlow with engines still in them. Nothing else at Barlow. 52nd St has a good selection of 740s and 960s too although 2 of the 960s don't have engines. Nothing new for 240 series anywhere...

1998 Cross Country (P1 car) just arrived today. Has damage. Turbo is done. I heard it run, but I think it was the turbo that was blowing oil. 350,000 km. Black leather interior. Automatic. Of course the JY are over the moon with the new Volvo...I'm leaving parts on it for now.
