Hi,

I've got a B21F engine bored out to a the first overbore size over B23 size sitting in a 1980 GL that I want to get hauled away and crushed. The pistons in it are B23 Kolbin-Schmidt flat-tops 0.011" overbore size with only about 120,000 km on them.

I was going to pull the engine and save those pistons before I crushed the car but I don't think I'll ever find the time to do it so I'll give the pistons away to anyone who wants to come and pull the engine out of the car and retrieve them.

Anybody interested can PM me or call me at 270-7319.

That is all,

Roj

No. You can get away with overboring a B21 to standard B23 sizes if you aren't planning on turbocharging it, but other than that the cylinder walls are too thin. Going to 2nd OS is a gamble even on an NA engine - Roj's car ran but your block might suffer from greater core shift than his, and as soon as you fire it up you might crack a bore.

These should only be used for a high compression B23 build.

I'm not the only one who's successfully bored a B21 out to B23 or larger size. I ran that car for 120,000 km or so with those pistons in it before the car rusted out and deteriorated. I think these pistons would work fine if you're planning on running a high compression overbored B21 or B23 engine. The pistons aren't dished (flat tops) so they wouldn't be appropriate for use in a turbo.

You're welcome to take the whole engine if you want. The head has been shaved down and the whole head & valves, etc. was completely redone at the same time the block was bored. The crankshaft was done at that time too. I haven't used the engine for anything because the head is warped and needs machining right now but if someone wants to put in the labour and pull the engine and do a little work on it they'd get a hot little N/A B21F bored out to about .011" past B23 size. There's no cam in the engine right now but you can easily get a K-cam at PYP and throw it in. Add one of Matt & Dale's adjustable cam gears and you've got a potentially good little N/A engine there. Only ~120,000 Km on it since the complete rebuild.

Anyone who might want it better PM me soon otherwise it'll be going to the Kidney foundation real soon.

Roj

No, and you're one of those who haven't split the cylinders. Like I said, it's a gamble even with an NA engine, but with a turbo engine they're completely unsuitable unless you start with a 2.3 litre block.
