My parents are getting rid of their '84 760 Turbo, after blowing the head gasket this past weekend. I know Matt has seen it, and a few others saw it at the May meet last year. Its light metallic green, with the full meal deal green interior. A thing of beauty. Zero rust. Of course it has the b23ft as well, with over 200,000 kms on it. The turbo needs changing. Everything else works. New fuel pumps. Novas. Its never been abused.

My parents are pretty down about it. And, it really sucks, as they are leaving Alberta permanently on Wednesday for Ontario, and were planning on driving it all the way out. Without time to search for a new Volvo, they are basically getting whatever's available in the Hat in the next two days, likely a Civic or something unfortunate. At any rate, the car may be hitting the wrecker by Wednesday. My Dad has one potential buyer in the Medicine Hat. If anyone is interested, let me know ASAP. The car would have to be picked up in the Hat. I will get a price if anyone is interested...it won't be much.

Dammit!!! I've even got a spare head gasket set I could send down to you to get it running for them. Do they HAVE to leave on Wednesday?

That car can't hit the crusher! It's the most grandpa of the grandpa series: a double green 764!!!

Andy, you need this car. Throw a head gasket on it and a decent turbo, and you've got a great car for the cruise! It's GREEN ON GREEN, for chrissake!

The double green is as sweet as it gets!!!

Thanks for the offer on the gasket set Matt. They thought about postponing the trip to get the car fixed. They probably would wait if they could get it fixed actually...they just have to be in Ontario soon, as they take possession of their new house tomorrow. I thought about doing it, but I'd have to be in the Hat for a couple days (I'd be slow) or I'd have to get the car to Lethbridge somehow...both are a bit tricky right now. And my parents figured this was the last straw as far as paying someone to do it, and sinking money into that car. My Mom was already worried about it breaking down, so I guess it was good it happened before they left.

Another factor I didn't mention is it took my Dad a bit to pull over. One of the heater hoses blew as well. So I don't know if the hose went, the car overheated, and then the head gasket went. Or if the head gasket went, the car overheated, and the pressure blew the hose. My Dad said he heard a ticking sound under power right before as well. Pinging. All this to say, I don't know how long the car was overheating for. I got worried about head warpage.

Sigh. I'm gonna miss that car. So green.

I even know of two good Turbo-spec heads and two good Garrett turbos that aren't being used right now, one head being the proper 398 series.

My Dad has found someone in Medicine Hat who is interested. Car may be gone later today. If anyone wants it, decide quick.
