Well, I'm starting to get things sorted out...first up was pulling the throttle body and giving it a good clean. It was pretty gunked up dispite my attemptes to clean it while installed. It was pretty easy to clean up once off the car.
Here's the start point - not pretty...note oil, this is the intake side.

The other side - evidence that my cleaning sucked.

Pulse air thingy - not too clogged. Still required a drill bit to clean it out!

Note the screws in the background are in tight focus - my birthday passed and I got videos, but sadly no new camera!
Oil from TB left on my new facy steel bench top - naughty TB.

I pulled it all apart - cleaned it up, cut new gaskets and did some gasket matching on it, gave it a light polish.

All done - other side. Installed with more TLC and the car still idles poorly. It is better, but this wasn't the problem.

Greg swung by for the first start up and there was a pretty wicked vac leak coming from somewhere. We adjusted the K-Jet boot (the front rubber bolt is broken again as the engine mounts are soft) and that seemed to quiet it down...but we both agreed that the majority of the vac leak seemed to be coming from the injectors. I've got new seals on the way - we'll get them installed soon and see how it goes.
