Yoshifab has just released a conversion speedo cable for the T5 and a clutch disk. Both are on the way to me. Nice timing.

I would have just went with one of these http://www.speedhut.com/gauges/GPS-Speedometers/1:3
A little pricey as a kit,but you can buy the speedo separately in any config you want.
Had one of these in my 760 (due to the easy way out of trying to hook up a 700r4 cable to an electronic pickup) and it worked great. Also does 0-60 and 1/4 mile. It was about $260 shipped to my door. And it doesn't care what diff ratio or tire size you have.

I have some Speedhut gauges for my project car...the issue isn't getting a drive to hook the transmission to the existing speedometer (that's easy) it's getting the new EFI to function properly. LH 2.4 needs a speed signal so that it idles properly and it will also cut the injectors on decel. Not a big deal, but I like it when things work properly and are not cobbled together.

Turns out I've got a spare flywheel. I just have to drill it for LH 2.4. No problem.

I took some time to break the engine down and get a good look at what I needed to do to rebuild this hulk. Let's put it on the engine stand and see what we can see.

Image

Things are pretty disgusting…people, clean your engines.

Image

First I pulled the plugs…oh, oh. Those electrodes on plug 1 and 2 don't look long enough and they look a little white.

Image

Image

Once the head was off, we see why this car was in the JY…blown head gasket.

Image

JY guys said it was in because of a "No Start" - Ya think?

Image

Hey, doofus, when your tail pipe is blowing white…shut off the engine. See what happened to the cylinder head. Now Junk.

Image

Off to the JY to pull another head. Pistons on 1 and 2 were also showing signs of stress and will be replaced with first oversize parts. The rest was surprisingly in great shape. The crank and rods seemed fine (still have to measure them). 360,000 Km and the bearings looked like new.

That's all the update I have for now. Time to go clean up the parts.

I'm guessing the MBC I pulled off that car when it first showed up had something to do with all that destruction... On a side note what's the turbo like??

I'm pretty sure I've got a 530 turbo head taking up space in my garage...

Could you check on that head for me and let me know. If not, I'll go pull one on Friday.
