so back on track here. Ian did you find anything out? I'm up for keeping it on the 12th and since the only thing I can make is pizza then Bp's is fine for me but anywhere is fine.

The community office was still closed yesterday, I will be trying again today and will let ya'all know as soon as I find out anything

Second, there are a bunch that have already made arrangements for the event to happen on Saturday the 12, this includes Dale, Matt, Kat, Craig, Greg, Houston, Athal, Chris, and hopefully Steph. Changing the date could mean others are not available. On the other hand it would be great to include Geoff :?:

Let me start by checking if the hall is available either evening, but I would also like to see who is interested in the alternate evening (Jan 11)

Well, I think it's time to call it. Because Steph, Greg & Laura, and Craig & Deirdre are all driving in from 2-3 hours away, I think it's pretty ignorant to change the date to a Friday night. I figure we should be sticking to the Saturday night, and we should probably decide by the end of this weekend where we're going to meet. It's a shame that Geoff & co. couldn't arrange for a flight back Sunday morning instead of Saturday, 'cause I'd like to have a beer with the guy, but them's the breaks.

Ian, if you can't get ahold of the community center, we're probably going to want to phone BP and see if they can house us all. That also implies that we should have a pretty accurate head count. So: who's in for Saturday night? Chime in people.

Roberta, Amber, and myself will be there.

I totally agree...it's not fair to those who have been planning this for a while now. Not everyone has the luxury of working (or not) whenever they feel like it...

I'd like to find a place that we can book a private room, if possible. That would give us a little more freedom in terms of head counts and available seating and we're not taking up half of a restaurant for an evening. I know it's a little late to start this but I'm sure we can find somewhere that can accomodate us and not cost us an arm and a leg. Maybe we can even get a buffet-style meal catered...they're about $20 or $30 a plate but then we'd have all evening. I'm thinking a small hotel banquet room...

I agree Matt, this has been in the planning since early November, I have spoken to Roj and told him this event was arranged but it seems that Geoff had other commitments and had to be home by Saturday??

I have not been able to get ahold of the office staff at the community hall, but they should be back Monday morning.

I will be attending and I heard from Ian Bressey and he wants to attend along with 2-3 friends.

Deirdre and I are in, and aren't to concerned about the nature of the venue. Thanks to all you folks for putting this together - going a little stir-crazy down in Lethbridge.

ALRIGHT so far as head count goes, EVERYBODY who wants to come, PM me and let me know how many you plan on bringing.

That way I can just put together a bigass list, and it just seems a bit easier than everybody doing random posts and going through and counting...and yeah.

Ummm...we didn't go from potluck to catered banquet. We went from BP where you'll spend $15 to $20 easily, to the possibility of potluck, to a catered banquet room. Ian has stated many times that our chances of getting the community centre is slim at best so why are you so bent on potluck? Do you have another venue if Ian's doesn't work out? We have a week...

And your basement suite isn't an option...sorry...

I do believe you've met this other Ian. There are actually two more too. This one drives an 850 and I believe he was at BP the first night you were there.

There's Ian Hattie in Calgary and Ian Rankin in Edmonton as well...

simma dale! I dunno, BP there at least was the option for those of us who had to go cheapass to go cheapass...whereas catered banquet hall gives less that option. I dunno, I just think flexability as well.

And yes, I know my basement is no longer a possibility. Too many people. At first when I suggested it I had assumed we'd just be getting bout as many people as who show up occasionally for wings...but we're getting more people interested in this one.

I know the Moxies downtown has a 'private room' type thing going...but then again that's downtown...and downtown parking is icky!

and good god...the Ians are taking over! ahhh!!! ;)
