Does the Volvo/Pilkington glass make that much of a difference?? what can I say, it's going to need to get done eventually, I may as well get opinions, but is there a difference in quality?

Simple answer YES. The OEM Volvo windshield is considerably better. It is thicker, they use a "softer" glass that will pit a little but easier but really resists breaking and cracking. PPG is a very hard glass which chicks and cracks very easily.

Additionally we noticed that the windshields on the 765 and my 740, the 765 always ussed OEM and there seemed to be a polarizing process done on the glass which did not transmit heat as easily into the car. The PPG glass in my 740 was much more effected by sun & heat.

...and again that is your decision, even though the OEM is better, in my opinion, you have to decide if it is worth the extra cost. You might be able to replace the windshield twice with the PPG for one OEM.

Decisions, decisions

The wipers came and they seem to be of excellent quality and work very well indeed. The blades are made by a company called SilBlade. The outfit I bought them from (streakfreewiperblades.com) is a reseller.

That being said, my brother had a problem with both of the 26" wipers that he bought. For some reason they had a 3-4 inch flat spot in the middle where the blade wasn't touching the glass.

I called the reseller up an hour or two after regular business hours on the Thursday before the Easter Good Friday holiday and left a message on their voicemail. To my surprise the guy called me back about an hour later. I explained the situation to him and he told me that they were having some problems with some of the 26" flexblades and said he'd arrange to get two new replacements sent directly to my Brother in Sherwood Park, no questions asked. No need to return the defective blades. He asked me to e-mail him my brother's address and stuff which I didn't get around to for 2 or 3 weeks after that. When I did, he wrote back to confirm that the replacements had been shipped and were on their way. He later followed that up with a phone call to make sure I knew that everything had been taken care of.

Now that's what I call giving good customer service and standing behind your product ! Not too many businesses will return your call well after business hours on the eve of a long weekend, especially when you called an hour or two after their office closed for the weekend.

Hey Dale, when are you going to come by and pick up your blades ?

Yeah...I just remembered that. Wonder if they'll fit the 960?

As far as I know they will. IPD sells the same wiper kits for both the 700/900 series.
