I've got a pile of parts that I won't be needing any time soon, and my current project needs some cash to be dropped into it, so I figure it's about time I try and lighten my load.

- Holset HX35W: This turbo is in very nice shape, and I've been hanging onto it for a while in anticipation of using it on SOMETHING, but it's looking like I won't be. It's got the wastegated 12 cm^2 turbine housing, very little shaft play, and has been cleaned up by me and I've never used it. I've also cut back the turbine divider to smooth the flow and allow better access to the wastegate, which I've also opened up using a 32mm flapper. Furthermore, I've clocked the turbo for use on a 90+ manifold, and had tabs welded on for a Volvo 7-8 psi wastegate (which I've also modified for the job) $350.

- Garrett T04B: This turbo is BRAND FREAKIN' NEW. Compressor side is good to 350-400 hp, turbine side is a bit too large even for a small V8 but smaller housings can be purchased. You could even install a good T3 shaft and have a mostly-new T3/T4 for a little work. Still in the Garrett packaging. $300

- 912A-411 True Trac: I ran this in my 244 V8 for maybe 5000 km and removed it when I parted the car. It comes with a 3.31:1 gearset if you want, but no axles or housing. $350

- IPD 28/25 sways for a 260: Yes, these are the ones to have and are no longer being made. Deep dish sway bar for clearing the front oil pan on the 240 chassis and it's the preferred model for the Ford V8 engine swaps. The rear bar has dual humps for dual exhausts if you choose, and AFAIK this bar is also not being produced anymore. I will only sell as a pair and I will only sell to owners of 260s or V8 swaps, sorry. $400.

- Bilstein HD for 240: Full set, used, but in good shape. $250

- Boge Turbo Gas for 240: Full set, used but in good shape. $150

There may be more to come. I will leave this thread here for a week and then post it on Tbrix.

Is the Holset something that would work for my whiteblock build? If so sold. Sounds like the Garrett is a little too large for what I want.

The Holyshit is one that, on a 2.3 8v Redblock, fully spools by about 4000 RPM. That was with a K cam, though, so a milder cam should have worked a bit better. I have heard reports from some of the VAG 1.8T forums that they build boost much sooner than that.

You might want to do some research, but you're welcome to it if you want it.

I tried to find a map for it last night...but didn't turn up much useful. From what I found, it is a diesel turbo, that doesn't do much before 3K and then seems to go to full boost very quickly. Do you have a map? I've also read that 20psi is about all you can toss at a 2.3...so the 2.5 would be even less. Perhaps this is not the right idea. I'll keep head scratching. If anyone else want's it - go right a head.

I have a map somewhere, but it's not necessarily a "good" map. Holset doesn't publish that kind of thing, for some reason.

It doesn't need to run at 20 psi, fer gosh sakes. Stock boost on that turbo is 18, and that's on the diesel. With enough wastegate (I'm not sure my mods are enough - I was going to try them out and see, but now...) you can run it at whatever boost you like. It's not like it gets inefficient at low boost... The "map" is actually pretty wide and broad down low, if I remember.

What I'd be most worried about is the driveability of the thing. Like you observed, it's pretty lazy but when it starts spooling, WHAM. Not very smooth and subtle, and though you're not looking for subtle, I'm sure you're looking for something refined.

Buy it, try it, sell it? It's a ways down the road, for sure...

So nobody else is interested in anything? Okay, I'll cross this over to Tbrix.

Sorry Matt, I had a look at the map you sent and while I have no doubt that someone on TBrix will love that turbo, it would be too much for what I'm shooting for. If my calculations are correct, by the time it kicked it, I would have to hold on tight and pray that my drive train could absorb the surge of torque.
