Well...about 7 hours from now Ian, Joan, Beth and I will be heading west in our 960. Destination is ultimately Portland area for a week of wine country touristy stuff but we'll stop and smell the roses on the way. Plan is to be back in town two weeks from today.

For those of you wondering....yes, we'll be attending the IPD 25th Anniversary Garage Sale. I think Cameron has reserved a spot for the 960 too, so you might see some pictures of it before we get back.

The laptop will be along for the ride so we'll be checking in when we get a chance...

See y'all!

:D

We made it to Lynden with no unexpected surprises. The 960 is running beautifully and gave us 28mpg on the first leg. Being fully loaded with 4 adults and all our luggage, I'm pretty happy...

More later...breakfast time...

What...you're going to the IPD garage sale and didn't post a
"what's on your shopping list" post?

Uhhh...nope... :D

And such a thing will not be posted. The 960 is already full and our wives haven't even gone shopping...

Why wait until then? We have digital cameras...

Deception pass on the way to Whitby Island to catch the ferry to Port Townsend.

However...got to the ferry landing only to find out the high winds were wreaking havoc with the tidal currents and they canceled the next sailing and couldn't guarantee the one after that would sail. So we drove down towards Seattle and caught a short ferry to somewhere and then another ferry to somewhere else and finally got to the peninsula that way. The drive out to Neah Bay was spectacular. Much like Duffy Lake Rd but with smoother roads, ocean on one side and some big-ass trees to welcome anyone who strayed off road. The 960 performed flawlessly. The road runs up the north side of the peninsula so the rollers coming in weren't that big until we got further around the corner...

This is the place we stayed Sunday night. Right on the ocean front. Waves crashing in just feet from the front window. Any closer to the ocean and it would have to be on stilts to stay dry in high tide.

The view out the front window...

Token artsy shot or two. It was nearly dark. Used the tripod and lengthy exposure...

Image

15 second exposure...it was nearly dark. The light to the left is a lighthouse on Vancouver Island...

Image

From Neah Bay we went south to Moclips to a beautiful spot about 100 ft up the cliff from the ocean. We checked in and then went for lunch. Can you count the wine glasses?

This is out the window of the restaurants from our table...

And Ricki showed up...

More later. We'll get some pics of the place we're staying at in Dayton. It's gorgeous and Dayton is this sleepy little town. We just got in this afternoon so haven't had a chance to explore the area at all...

Your wheels doesn't match with the car. You'll have to repaint the car to pure white to match it with the wheels!

Crazy pics - I didn't realize you could drive on the beach anywhere, now I want to do it. With my luck, my car would get stuck and quickly ravaged by salt water.

Looks like you folks are having a great vacation - have a drink or two for the rest of us

Oh, and I'm still looking for an OD switch if anyone has one at the IPD garage sale (I'd go as high as $100 and if you're there already, grab me a couple of the switch paddle thingies).
