Wow, what a trip, If my wife sees these I'll be in big trouble. Most of our vacations centre around work and are often quite compressed.

Temps have been crazy in Lethbridge...we were 32C here yesterday.

I was thinking about you yesterday thinking you might enjoy this kind of thing. I'll tell my wife not to tell your wife... :D

I noticed quite a few 122 wagons in your photo gallery...that 2 door looks pretty nice, Jag IRS - what a good idea

I was wondering if you had seen that!
A blown v6 in that as well? Crazy.

It's obviously not done but there's been some interesting work put into it. None of the Portland guys knows anything about it so I'm not sure where it's from. Looks to me like he's trying to imitate the Vox car in some ways. I'm sure that blown V6 will make it scoot right along...

It was too low to get under and have a look at the full suspension. The pictures I took were accomplished by sticking the camera under the car and pulling the trigger.

For years there was a Black 122 wagon in Vancouver. It had Jag IRS, and an aluminum Buick 283? V8 in it. I'm sure that it was that old buick aluminum engine. It ended up on the buy and sell for 10K. It left and no one has seen it since. This was probably in 2001-2002.

I doubt this wagon was ever black but you never know...

Today we went to the Evergreen Aviation Museum. The actual Spruce Goose is there. Unbelievable facility and a spectacular collection of aircraft. Pictures are here...

Well...we made it to Spokane. 11 hours on the road today and over 1000km. Got 30mpg between Eugene and Kennewick WA with a wicked wind pushing us all the way up the Columbia Gorge and cruising at at least 120. Tomorrow we'll be home. Looking forward to getting home but not liking the idea of going back to work Monday... :(

Gotta like the 70mph speed limits in WA. Montana should be even more fun...

I'm pretty sure they dropped that whole "reasonable" speed limit thing years ago, but you'll find out today I guess.

We made it home...

That was a crazy day. Left Spokane about 8AM. It was a bit cloudy and rain was in the forecast. Flooding all over the place down there. Freeways in Idaho are 75MPH speed limit...except you hardly get a chance to do that on the I90 because it gets so twisty. We took I90 through Idaho into Montana (long story...had to do with taxes on the wine we were bringing back). Headed north through Kalispell and on #2 around Glacier Park. It was ugly. Snow above 5000 ft. Flooding all over the place. Water flowing over the road in a couple of places. The map tells you Logan Pass is 6600 ft. What it doesn't tell you is the pass on #2 is 6000 ft and the one between Browning and the border is about 6200 and not fun in the fog, rain and snow.

I suspect the speed limits in Montana are pretty much not enforced on the freeways. The narrow 2-lane roads have a 70mph speed limit and we hit it a few times. #2 is mostly too twisty to do 70 very often. Going any faster would be just stupid and I suspect they may keep an eye on those...

Anyhow, it's good to be home. I'll check to see what pictures have been uploaded to my gallery and upload the rest for everyone to enjoy. We had a spectacular time...

WOW !!! what a vacation :D
I think I can say all of us had a GREAT time, the only frustrating part was everything we didn't see, but we would have needed another 4 weeks for all of that. Thes scenery, accomodations, meals, wines (most of them), people and cars were amazing.

Thanks Beth and Dale, you guys are great room mates.

More pictures have been uploaded to the gallery. We didn't take any pictures on the way home as we were focused on getting as many miles behind us as possible. There were quite a few spots along the Columbia Gorge that likely would've been interesting. A number of huge hydro dams, more wineries...stuff like that. One could likely spend a couple of days just doing that stretch of the trip.

I've obviously down-sized the images in the gallery. The full-sized pictures are 3888 X 2592  If anyone wants something full sized, I can burn it on a disc. These are just my pictures and not nearly all of them. Ian has about as many. Most are similar scenery shots but Ian is a better photographer than I am so some of his are just plain better shots.

I am NOT a better photographer, we both have some awesome shots !!! Between the two of us we covered the trip in a pictorial fashion that combined will provide us with good memories and an endless supply of desktop pictures.

Right now Dale is holding all the pictures, his laptop made for invaluable storage when the memory card is too small ...
