Shannon DeWolfe is coming through town next weekend. He's on a major trek from Texas to Yellowknife. He hopes to be here next Sunday although that's not written in stone due to unknowns along the way. Maybe we can get together at my place (?) for a bbq?

Craig, I know you wanted to meet him. Can you make it in?

Holy cow do I have some serious work ahead of me if I want to get the garage presentable by then...

Let me know as the time get's close...Deirdre is doing a skating thing in Edmonton and may have the car. Mine is inoperative at the moment  I'll do what I can to make it up - even Monday is fine.

I'm interested. He and I had some discussions about the route earlier in the spring, would be fun to meet.

No word yet so I'm not sure what's happening. I'm not planning anything really. I'll let you know when I hear. Maybe something after dinner Sunday?

I heard from Shannon this evening. He expects to be here tomorrow afternoon. He said they're about 6 hours away.

So...how does an evening visit sound? We can feed him dinner relatively early and then maybe drop by about 7? We're not late evening people so I'd expect to be wrapping up no later than 9:30 or so...

Maybe this time 'round?

Shannon and Tyler plan to come through Calgary on Monday again. I suspect they'll stay the night again being as Shannon is picking up a number of bits and pieces from me and will likely have to rent a small U-Haul trailer to take everything back. Anyhow, we plan to feed them dinner. We're going to do a beer can chicken for us. If anyone wants to join us for dinner, feel free but BYOM. Let me know so we can plan other stuff...

Another update. Shannon called around 4 today. They were still a few hours north of Edmonton. Their goal was Edmonton tonight. Tomorrow they'll come in to Calgary and pick up a small U-haul trailer to carry the rear end and transmission that they are picking up from me (and likely a few things from the car so they can see out the back window). He's going to be here when I get off work at 5 and we'll load things up. He was non-committal about staying for the night. He said ideally they'd get at least a couple more hours of driving in before calling it a night but he also said he'd make that call tomorrow afternoon when they're here.

So...bottom line is I'm not sure he's even going to want to stay for dinner let alone for the evening so best call tomorrow around 6 to see if it's worth dropping by. I'll try to update this thread as well...
