Keep your eyes peeled for a 960 at the JY...I'm seriously considering a Whiteblock to Jaguar conversion. Had a good look at Dale's 960 and the engine is physically around the same size and a compact design that I think I could stuff in my Jaguar. I'll need all the ancillaries plus the wiring harness and computer.

Let me know if you find one in your travels.

Craig

I'll be in Portland in a few days...too bad I don't have room in the Golf for an engine on the way back.

How about a cam? There's a V15 turbo sitting at RSI for me... :D

Wanna buy a V15 Turbo cam?

I'm going just a little north to Vancouver, but there will be no room in the Beetle for the engine. No rush, I should be ready for it by spring. This way, people are keeping an eye out.

Do you have room for 4 rims, they are also sitting as RSI for me

Where abouts in Portland is RSI? I perhaps should have checked in a little earlier to see if anyone has anything to be picked up. :D I actually wouldn't mind checking that place out.

Not making any promises at this point, as I'm not sure if Laura will be too keen on making parts stops, but if RSI isn't too far out of the way, a cam would be no problem. The wheels may depend on how much shopping Laura does in Portland.

Send me a contact and an address, and I'll see what I can do...

Dale...you're buying this cam to sell it?

Phone number and address are on the front page. You need to call first to make sure someone is there...

I bought the cam because it was a killer deal and the guy didn't want to ship to Canada. Chances are I'll sell it, yes...

Gotcha. I'm gone to the coast as of tonight, but I should be in Portland by mid next week. I'll call RSI when I'm there, and if I'm in the area, I'll see about stopping by.

Don't know if Craig will see it before the auction ends but they're out there...

Missed it...not to worry, it's still a long way off. I wonder if that seller was including the layer of dust?

Greg stopped by. It was awesome to meet him and I hadn't been on the board in forever. There is a 960 in the JY and a good friend has a complete 960 drivetrain with ECUs and the works he might let go of. Getting a motor up there is probably beyond me.

Motors in the scrap yard usually go for about $150 USD. Of course, pulling it would be time intensive, since it is difficult for me to do an entire I6 longblock in once piece. The one that wound up in the yard is a 96 964 with about 110K on it that got hit really hard in the back.

Something could be worked out if your friend wants to part with the entire engine (computers et al). I'm thinking about next spring, so there is no rush.

Great to meet you too James! It was rad to hang out for a bit, and see RSI. I love Portland!

The cheapest I can find for a 960 motor (from a used motor place) is about $1650 shipped about ten minutes from me (to North Dakota).

That's for a 110k mile motor.. eek but I might have the bite the bullet eventually.

I see plenty on car-part.com for the $600 range. Shipping can be that bad can it?
