I just went into Valentine to pick up some oil filters for my RWD cars. As of July 1 the price of them went up to $13.50 per filter !

FCP Groton sells cases of 10 Mann filters for $34.91. That's 1/4 the cost per filter than what Valentine's charging. :butthead:

Shipping on 1 case is $28. Shipping on 2 cases is $42.00, 3 cases is $58.50, 4 is $74 and so on. The price per case drops a lot going from 1 - 2 cases and then a slight amount for each case after that.

Anybody interested in putting together a group buy on a few cases of filters ? I'm thinking the minimum amount would be a half case (5 filters). I'm in for 1 case. Just need 1 more case to bring the shipping down to a more reasonable level. At just 2 cases the cost per filter is $5.59 which is nearly a 60% savings off of Valentine's enormously inflated rip-off price.

Anybody else in ? We all need filters...

Volvo's price matrix went up a huge amount on most things.

Example, abs module for an s70 I quoted before update was around 790. After was just over 1500

Crazy stuff man.

Before jumping in a bringing something as simple as oil filters up from the states I would be checking to see prices from local suppliers. Many of us have wholesale accounts that may surprise you with the price. I will check my suppliers tomorrow.

Roj's price through FCP on 1 case (produce + shipping) = $6.30 USD each
2 cases = $5.60 3=$5.45 4=$5.35

I can get Mann filters locally for $8.00 CAD each in any quantity over 6 filters

my cost, atm, is $5.10 each.

If people want to order stuff through me, that's cool, I'll get you my cost +10% as I have to do the ordering, goes on my credit card, and I have to go pick it up. Wasn't a big deal before when we had regularish orders going in and I was at the shop all the time, now I have to go pick up during my lunch hour, and buy the guys coffees for letting me ship to their shop.

No offense to Roj, but I use Napa Gold filters which are Wix and are as good as the Mann's and I can get them for around $5 locally.

A note to EVERYONE!!
Paul can get us some awesome pricing on items you would never thing of (like windshields, etc) Please check with him if you need anything.

I have also been supporting him by recommending his repairs to those that ask where to get their car fixed, so far very positive feedback

Huh? I thought our prices were bad. Benz straight list is $157.50, minus, (sometimes) 15% off if I feel like Santa that day. I wonder if we are going to see a "dollar adjustment" from them soon... I/we get enough "buyer resistance" as it is. :?
I do tend to believe the 2 for $88 Ebay specials are truly an inferior product, so I sleep at night.

Hi, just got back from holidays a few days ago so just catching up on this thread.

Are these Mann filters you're quoting here for $5.25 each ? If so, I'll take 10 for now. That ought to last us for a couple years at least. We don't tend to put a lot of miles on our cars...
