There's a 740T at the PYP in Lethbridge...I'm heading out tomorrow. What exactly do you need...I know nothing about what you need. I can find the computer, where do I find the resistors?

Fuel computer - passenger kick panel

Ignition computer - above brake pedal

fuel injectors, c/w fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator

injector resistors - behind driver's headlight on the inner fender... get as much of the harness as possible too. I've got a couple resistor packs at my house, but don't know if I've got the harness parts or not. I should, but they'd be built into a V8 Megasquirt harness.

Instead of getting injector resistors and nasty old JY injectors, look at these instead: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/delp ... p-272.html . For the cost of the parts you buy at the JY and the cost of getting the old injectors cleaned, you can have brand new parts and not have to bother installing injector resistors due to these injectors being high resistance. If you wanted to go bigger, for the same price as the 30 lb/hr injectors you can get the 42 lb/hr injectors, keep your old fuel pressure regulator, and add the resistor into the AMM line.

matt that link dosent work,

:edit: followed the links, the 30lb/hr ones? $200 bones... YIKES

i would rather use the high impedence injectors, if you can just grab the computers, maybe the IC piping and airbox piping as well? if its not too much trouble of course... let me know when you find that stuff.

thanks

alex

We had a quick visit to the JY today...no time to pull the parts. The PYP in Calgary should have the odd 740 turbo pass through it. I don't have any other time this weekend as I've got to get the 122 rolling.

Link fixed.

You're "Yikes"ing about $200 being expensive or cheap? At $7 per injector at the PNP (or $1 for all 4, depending on whether you like your pockets smelling of gas), plus the postage to get them to the injector cleaning shop of your choice, plus the $15 USD per injector for cleaning, and return postage, I figure it all adds up.

If you're content to run JY injectors, as-is or with a couple tankfuls of injector cleaner, new injectors don't seem too economical I suppose. You'll still need to add the injector resistors, though.

I've got a set of V6 CFI injectors that are cleaned, matched, and haven't been used since. These are the 36 or 37 lb/hr models, low impedance (so you'll still need the resistors), and you'd need to modify the AMM signal to make LH-jet work properly with them. They're yours for what I paid for them, $150.

I've got a chipped computer too - Fredschips, or whatever the guy on Tbrix calls his business. I was never happy with the way it ran in my 740, and never tried to figure out why. Fred says that it's probably a problem with my AMM or fuel pressure regulator or something else that makes it run poorly in vacuum. It might also be that I screwed something up during the install - I never took pictures of the board and verified it with Fred. It's yours for $150, which is about half of what I paid for the chip.

I've got 2 resistor packs and I'm sure I could scare up the connector and about 6 inches of pigtail.

You'd still need an ignition computer and a turbo fuel pressure regulator (or fuel rail, if your car has a low mounted regulator).

ok ill let you guys know what i need. i just grabbed the ecu/ezk, ic piping, airbox, greentops, fpr and resistor packs from tbrix.

matt. i am trying to do this as cheaply as possible, yes i know it all evens out, if i have trouble with these greentops ill talk to you about the cfis, maybe even the chipped box. funds (as with most volvo drivers) are tight enough with school at the moment, thanks for the offers and ill keep them in mind.

andy, no i probably wont need them, but if i find myself looking ill ask. still have that cosmetic b21ft HG?

how do i check for the low mount FPR? where is the high/low located?

oh and i dont have an fin clue where to splice in those resistors...

thanks guys

alex

The high mount fuel rail has the fuel pressure regulator mounted on the rail above the manifold, and the return line passes over the manifold. The regulator bolts to the rail. The low mount rail makes a pass over the injectors and down in front of the manifold, and the regulator is mounted below and in front of the throttle body. The return line passes under the manifold, and the regulator is threaded onto the rail.

And I understand you're trying to do this cheaply, so no worries.
