another cylinder 4 misfire.
we can rule out spark plugs, dist cap.
all the sensors operate to spec.
compression is ok.
And City driving is fine.

so now we know it's cylinder #4 again and under hard acceleration ?
i'am going with injector or possible weak valve spring.

how long did it misfire for?
a couple of seconds?
or minutes..was it ok after you let the foot off the accelerator?
were you by any microwave towers?may need a PCM shield.

in the end we can always put in a V8 and give Ian some Competition
and a Road Warrior Blower sticking out the hood.

A cylinder leakdown test, you can pin-point a problem with a cylinder that way. For example on my saab, I've got low(er) compression cyl 2...great, why? Put the cylinder leakdown test on there and it tells me that I have 60% leakage in that cylinder, then I took my stethoscope and starting listening around different parts of the engine, like the intake, exhaust , valve cover, dipstick tube for hissing. I found my hissing in the coolant expansion tank thus telling me that I have exhaust gasses entering my cooling system most likely from a blown headgasket.

You can't do it yourself, Kat, without a compressor and a leakdown tester.
