So after bolting the LPT 5cyl to the 960 tranny, mangling on the engine mounts, and giving a long hard look at it, it finally hit me. I'm building a monster!

On top of the insane and over-the-top modification, and putting a fwd engine from a 1998 (and later an upgraded HPT one from an 04'), the serious suspension modifications, and extreme amount of welding, this car is going to be retardedly quick. ~240hp with megasquirt in a chassis that maybe will weigh 3000 pounds all said and done! I'm bloody excited and definitely in need of a part time job to finish getting the parts i need.

Provided you get it done, it will be pretty awesome. I haven't seen pictures of the PV, though.

And the "provided you get it done" stuff is based 100% on personal experience. So much can happen between now and then... Not meant to sound like a dick.

oh yeah, i've been working on it for a year now, paid wayy too much for the rusty old car, got a good deal on both the engines and the rwd bits, it's been a long time coming, but things are starting finally to solidify. probably going to take another 10-12 grand and 2-3 years to finish, but mark my words, it'll get done.

Sounds like an awesome project, a number of us know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to the modifications, money and time.

We are a patient bunch and will wait with baited breath to see watch your project come together

awesome, so may i ask if people can keep an eye out for a wrecked MKIII + supra (anything post 1986.5) i'm desperately in need of the xmember so i can mock things up. And possibly the rear subframe as well, may as well run supra goodies because they can hold a fair bit of power, have the track width i want, and let me run all types of nifty aftermarket goodies once they're welded in for good. Pics to come in the next few weeks pending my midterms...

My biggest Volvo regret was getting rid of the PV544, I wish I had somewhere to store it.

I had similar dreams, B230FT 16v, Ford 9" rear (or some IRS) and a full cage.

I hope you finish yours so I can drool over it! I love PV's and will own one again someday! (this time it will be drivable)

Should be fun.

I'd like a 444, but not right now. Maybe in 3-5 years with a good work space, the right shell, and some time...hard to envision right now.

Cameron's around-town beater 444 with a 2130CC B20E/dual side-drafts with an M41 caught my eye and I've resolved to find one some day if I can. Plus, if I had a really nice well sorted 240 at the same time it'd make the 240 feel space age, especially if I find a nice late black 245.

544s and 444s are hilarious to drive. Light, extremely loud, horrible awful steering and ride. They feel well...about like driving a light weight version of our '58 Massey 65 tractor haha.

Hey, this is what I've got planned for my 122 wagon project. I've got the whiteblock stuff assembled and have almost settled on the supra rear. I'd like to say that great minds think alike, but I think it would be more accurate to say twisted minds think alike  .

There are a few threads on here about the IRS.

hahah wow! Nice to see the similar thoughts, i'm going to have to be sharing my CAD drawings when i find a supra xmember to get dimensions from then!

basically, the PV is an awesome shell to work from, scary light, decent weight distribution, but the track is a touch narrow for my tastes.

Basically, right now it's the 5cyl turbo swap, which fits rather well with the firewall knocked down straight.

And best of all, will be the fact that i can put my seat where it feels the best! Like the pulsar seats in the 245 that drop me 2" and make being 6'3 very comfortable in the 245... with almost go-kart like feel to the whole thing.

I do have a good feeling though that the back seat will be little more than a place to mount all the EMS / electronics goodies and have them accessible.

However, the fact that this project will be taking so long may let me be a little bit meticulous with having everything look nice and be clean.

The pipedreaming part of the project would be making a supercharged 5cyl, but that'll come when i can get the engine in the car and make sure it's all possible to fit.

Supercharged...I've got an Eaton M46 sitting in my parts stash, but that was for a B20 dream I had. I've also got a water to air intercooler (or parts at least) for the same dream. Mine is going to be turbocharged for no particular reason other than it's easier.

M46? I thought the popular ones were 45,62,and 90...

that being said, it'd be pretty cool to twin-charge a whiteblock, but i'd imagine rather needlessly complicated and unruly as well, but the sound could be rather nice.

You are correct...add M112 to that list if you want to get a little crazier...

M62...I've got a cold and things are foggier than usual.

And really, M40/M41/M45/M46/M50/M90 are all good Volvo numbers, so it's easy to get confused.
