I’m posting this for a friend of Deirdre’s (I was told NO). I’ve not seen the car, but the pictures tell the story. It’s a 1990 740 Turbo (auto) with around 280,000 Km and comes with winter and summer tires. The car is originally from Whiterock, BC and has only seen Lethbridge’s version of winter a couple of times. Apparently there is some clear coat peeling on the back passenger side rear door. New battery and alternator. Black leather interior. Tinted windows. Asking price is $1000 OBO. This is not posted elsewhere. Looks uber clean - and that interior is minty.

That is sick.
Even more sick is that my $300 beater has probably already cost me more than that when you add up the parts. Not that I really want a 740, but man that thing would be way nicer to drive.

Jim, A PM with details awaits.

Ya, when I saw the pictures I thought...tailer hitch, good shape, turbo. But I've got to keep my car habit in check if I want to stay married.

I dislike 7 series, but 1990 is a real good year for some reason and red and black are where its at.

I can't explain why 90 is such a good year, but every 90 turbo I've worked on has been a little better than the earlier and later cars for some strange reason. The bad news is that if anything ever goes wrong with the front clip, you are screwed. The sheetmetal is unique to that year...fun.

I bought mom's 1990 gold M46 1-owner 744ti from a very trusted friend and neighbor. It still drives tighter than most new cars and is very quiet to this day (4 or 5 years later).

Jim, if you've got the green light, you have to jump on this. Looks to be an outstanding deal, and will save you a PILE of work.

Good find, Craig!

Yup for sure, problem is we're leaving tonight for the wet coast for Easter. I emailed the seller so am sitting by the phone hoping for a call to go look at it tonight. If we get it the plan is to sell the V70, love the car but not the cost of servicing, so stay tuned for a FS posting. I still plan on trying to get the turbo beater on the road so we'll have 3, 740's if this goes through... weird. :-k

That is nice, real nice. Why couldn't that have been for sale four weeks ago? I would have snapped that up in no time when I needed to get on the road. :x

I really don't have any spare funds at the minute unless somebody wants to buy a Grand Cherokee off me for not much money.. ! Anyway, I hope somebody gets this, it looks like a good one.

Talked to the owner today, sounds like the car has some running issues that the current shop hasn't been able to resolve. Not too sure what it is (she couldn't explain for sure) sounds like some sort of fuel problem. Fuel pump has been replaced not sure what else has been done. Basically the repairs are adding up with no resolution in site, the service manager said they could keep going but at $100+ an hour would be better to sell to an enthusiast with time to play with it.

Other than the current fuel problem the car is fine, she has already bought a Crapalier for her daughter to replace the 740 so she just wants to get rid of it. I am going to look at it as soon as I get back from the wet (it is :( ) coast, so consider it sold unless there is something else majorly wrong with it but for $1000 OBO I can't see letting it go. Thanks Craig for posting this up, I really hope it looks as good in person as it does in the pics.

Well it IS LH 2.4, but I feel pretty confident that we could/can figure out whatever's wrong with it. No clues other than "some kind of fuel problem"? Maybe get the shop to chime in when you get back to town...
