So I spent some time diagnosing a car today, I changed the engine on it last week (as per someone elses diag) for a misfire in cyl 3. They figured the block was warped, last time we rebuilt the cyl head and the tech found a head bolt broken on #3, so I put in a used engine. Still getting a misfire on 3...so I went hunting, everything checked out ok on the spark side of things, so I checked the injectors, pattern was good but 3 looked like it was a little weak so I changed 3 and 4 injectors. Took it out highway 8 to the traffic circle and back for a nice 50k road trip with the VST tool, monitoring my flywheel adaptations and junk in case the flywheel was buggered. When I came back to the shop I checked codes and found a misfire in cyl 4 now (yay!). Swapped 4 injector with another 98 n/a junker in the yard and im driving it tonight, i've been checking it out with the vst and so far so good, i've put about 100k on it around the city and it looks awesome. Im feeling good becuase it's been through a couple techs at work and I had the service manager looking at it scratching his head too.

Feels good when you solve something that no one else figures hey? The recent one I had was a 08 s80 that the wipers would turn on occasionally when the car was off. Came down to the siren control module. Feels good.

I got to be the lucky guy to figure out that whole SUM/SUB connector thing before the TJ came out. That sucked balls dude, I traced every bit of wire related to the SUM and kept scratching my head. I never thought that the wrong connector was plugged into it. Techline faxed me the draft of that tj and I had to rip apart the back seat to find it because it still wasn't where it was supposed to be. Every other one i've had though the connectors have been beside eachother :x
