I've been looking at these for a while now, thinking how weak my bunch of $5 radios are. I think these would work far better. The back guy might actually be able to hear the front guy. Last year it wasn't that way. If you were more than a corner behind the lead guy, you couldn't hear him. I don't want to load John up with more stuff and I know Adrian would be totally willing to take delivery of a bunch of these and mail them up to us... They're rechargeable too...

Whadyall figure?

Got any extra radar detectors for sale while you're at it?

Ian -

Value Pack includes:
2 GMRS/FRS Radios
2 Rechargeable Ni-MH Batteries
2 Belt Clips
Manual

Darthal -

as far as radar detectors go...mine will be sufficient for us on the highways along with the scanner, as well i think ricky is getting the same one i have here pretty soon

the more the better but when driving back and forth from red deer to calgary this summer, my radar would go off...then i would see the cop two mins later 8)

ciao

They've got CB's too. I think they're about $30 each. The drawbacks I see is/are... You only get one. You need to supply power to it. It's only useful inside your car. You need an external antenna that's usually magnetically attached to your roof with a coaxial cable running out your window.

BTDT many years ago and for many years. The difference being I had "twin trucker" antennae (before the K40) and a 150 watt linear amp. I talked all over North America with that rig... 8)

I say stick with the portable radios. They're just that...portable...

Ok...I've ordered 5 sets of radios. 4 for the people that expressed interest and one for me. Shipping averages out to $3 per package so y'all owe me about $33. Viktor, you owe me a bunch more 'cause you have a megaphone coming too. We'll work that out. I'm getting them shipped to John's place because #1, it saves us a bunch on shipping and #2, it saves us about $50 in UPS rapage fees. Hopefully Athal can hook up with him and bring it all back here...
