So last night (mothers day) i met my parents out at a restaurant for a mothers day dinner. On my way home i took the new ring road (stony trail) which now extends out towards my place. Thanks to the city of Calgary not finishing their projects I hit a huge crack in the road going about 60-70 kph. The car immediately pulled sharply to the right. So i pulled off the road and walked around the car. the front right tire was completely flat. So i changed the tire in my good work clothes on the side of stony trail. When i got home i pulled the rim out of my trunk and checked it out it had 4 spots where it had been bent!! two inside, two outside!!

I've been to a few rim repair places and the best price I've heard yet is $190 at Alberta rim repair. Is this the best price or does anyone know anywhere that might be able to do it cheaper?

An "Eiker" is a 17x7.5 replica of the 17x7 Polaris factory alloy wheel. Known far and wide to be soft and bend very easily, but are very pretty.

Sorry to hear that, Doug.

I think Alberta Wheel Repair is expensive but the best in town. If you feel like carving out some wood to shape and hammering on it yourself, I've gotten things pretty darn straight this way. It'll need a repaint afterwards, but it will anyway. If it's really bent, you might want to take it to the proper folks to get it done right.

Might want to post a "wanted" ad up on T'Bricks. I'm sure there are guys who have 2 or 3 sitting in the garage because one is bent and they can't run the set on the car...

Excellent idea, Dale. Buy two or three if you can, Doug, 'cause you'll want the spares.

What air pressure are you running, BTW? On these wheels, you should be running as much as you can get away with.

Im not sure i want to paying shipping on them but if it comes down to it i just might. if i cant get a better quote tomorrow im just gonna get it fixed at Alberta rim.

im running 36 psi thats the highest i can get away with. and i know i was running 36 psi in the tires when i hit that dent in the road so it still puzzles me how that happened. it happened pretty quickly so i know that it wasn't a slow leak or anything.

How do you mean that's the highest you can get away with. That's the max load rating pressure on the tire?

most tires are atlest 42 to 50 psi max.

run em at 40psi+ to save your soft eikers :)

What was I doing at the dealership?

I was given some money earlier this year and i've been trying to blow it on an early C70 and i've had no luck trying to find one and neither has the dealership. I go to school in the area and i've been dealing with Shane at the dealership so i figured i would stop by and take a look at other options on my lunch break. (no im not getting rid of the 740)

just a little update.

I took the rim to Alberta Rim Repair to get reconditioned. they did a fantastic job!! they were a little pricey but for the work they did it was defiantly worth it. The rim looks brand new!! anyone possibly needing rims repaired of painted give them a shout they were very nice and quick!

I'll keep that in mind if ever I acquire the pretty rims for the mustang...the way we want em (all bullitt style) the rims we've kind of got our eyes on...well...they need repainting.

...or pegs...I'm kinda lusting over those now...I saw some on a 850 turbo who parks at the same park and ride I do....i lust. I can see them rockin out in a nice flat black on Christine ;)

Thanks for the feedback though! always good to know who does good work round these parts :)

Where's the barfy smiley?

:vom:

Ah, that's better.

Why anyone would paint rims flat black I'll never know, unless they're so ugly they'd WANT to hide them.
