UPDATE (already), For the hell of it I swapped the original RSR relay back in since I had serviced all of the grounds and could not start on the substituted A/C relay and... IT STARTED!!! It now looks like it was a bad ground, kudos to Ian for stating that swapping unknown parts around was a bad idea. Lesson learned as I would have had it started yesterday, or sooner, depending on which ground was the culprit. Oh well It's running I am a bit smarter now than I was before and I am very happy. Thanks again to everyone for your help, it was very educational as well.

Great news, Jim!

I'm surprised the dead RSR would let the car run but not start. To be honest, I'm not sure what the RSR does and doesn't do - I've never had trouble with mine.

On to the more fun stuff, eh?

Yeah... well as much as I can afford. Took it for a spin and it still seems to be running a bit rough. It absolutely needs shocks, almost dangerous feels like driving a bowl of jello , although the steering isn't too bad. Also needs some exhaust work, the tranny shifts OK but the fluid looks brown. When I got home it was idling a little rough. Shut it off and pulled a 1-1-3 code, "Injector cable break or blocked injector. I pushed all of the connectors on and cleared the code, will have to watch.

It need an oil change so seems like a good time to seafoam it and give it an Italian tuneup, may help with the possible blocked injector if it's not in the wiring.

Good news Jim
I have been following your journey, but there was no need to add anything as Matt had the diagnosis well in hand.

Now just sorting out some of the wear and tear issues of an older car which will be a snap compared to what you just fixed. Thumbs up

Well at least you were in the forest, without your help I would still be running around on the prairie chasing my tail...

Update (s'more), after running fine (sort of) in the afternoon went to fire it up after work to take the missus for a spin. Started to catch and then nothing. Pulled the relay and jumpered the plug started up no problem. So looks like the original relay was/is wonky combined with a bad ground. Ordering some new relays this morning and going to hit up PnP for a used one to get me going in the short term.
