My father is considering the sale of his beloved '93 Classic 240. He purchased it around 2005 from Volvo of Richmond. Before that it was a B.C. car. It's a metallic dark teal wagon, the 2.3 with a four speed auto. Black leather interior (heated!), power windows, power mirrors, driver's airbag... the list goes on.

I believe the odo indicates 210,xxxkm, but you'll have to speak to him regarding mileage. He's had scads of work put into it at Bert and Jacks, probably Valentine too.

It's got two sets of rims, winter tires on steelies with volvo hubcaps, and a set of the special volvo alloys specced on the Classic models with summer rubber.

The "Classic" models are the final 1600 200-series produced by Volvo for the North American market. Each one has a special wood-trim interior with a numbered plate indicating which of the 1600 they are.

Dad originally caught the Volvo bug when he bought a metallic blue 240DL wagon brand new in 1985, and owned it until 2001. He managed four years without a 240, then broke down and bought this. He finds himself traveling more frequently to his cabin these days and desires something with more power for the highway and steep mountain passes.

The car has been sold, thanks for your interest!

Got some pictures, now that I'm home from work =D>

You'll have to forgive me, it's obviously a 240 and not a 245. I'm not really sure what that distinguishes anyhow. I've edited my original post to reflect this.

If you are serious about the car, I highly recommend giving him a call. I'm sure he'd let it go to a good home for a very fair price.

Looks very nice!! You had it right the first time though as it is a 245 in the Volvo world. While it is a 240 series 245 was the internal nomenclature for this car as the 2 indicates the 200 series, 4 is the number of cylinders (although not always... it gets a little confusing at times), and the 5 indicating the number of doors so therefore a wagon. Those seats look incredible!!

Thanks for the clarification WS :)

The seats are in nice condition, but their comfort level still doesn't really compare to a nice modern car. My ass gets sore in them after 80 mins of sitting in rush hour lol. So it's still got that utilitarian no-nonsense volvo feel haha.

I just put the car up on kijiji for $4500.

If you are keenly interested in the car, and can't get in touch with my father, feel free to call me (Jamie), I can answer most questions regarding the vehicle and could even rip up to the NW and show it.

Looks like some type of uneveness just ahead of the passenger rear wheel? If it's rust repair there, chances are slim that it's anything like a permanent repair.

Don't know anything about that unevenness, but I agree you can see it in the photos. Dad's never had any body work done on it but there's a possibility some was done prior to him owning it. I've never noticed any "blends" in the paint so I'm inclined to think it might be side effects of some PDR dent removal?

I've never waxed his car so I'm not too familiar with the state of the body work. It's not perfect but at least this way you can inspect what you are buying in person, rather than shady ebay photography.

That trim is mad saggy. Nothing a little doublesided 3m wouldn't remedy though

I can assure you, dad's not looking to pass this car off for what it isn't. If the asking price is out to lunch, give him a ring and a fair offer. You might be surprised ;)
