Owwweee, bright for sure, not subdued like the dk blue, burgundy or grey but trashy?

I think I smell what you're cooking now, so if you're going a different color I would say the burgundy car next to the trashy (j/k) blue one. That color would be nice with the black leather interior.

Now this IS trashy..

If you wanted to run with that metallic blue, which is nice by the way, I'd recommend running a solid colored stripe; I think two metallics would clash and doesn't look very sporty. Personally, I'd look at blue(s) for the strip. Even a two-tone blue. Check out the stripe colors on this silver 244;



Also, there's a few more stripes you might be interested in, rather than the GT. The silver one on the red 244 was an option in the UK in '79-80, available in silver or 'teak'. Someday I will do this one to a 240, and it won't be in silver!! The Anniversary model also had a nice, subtle stripe.

Doug, the problem with that car is you could only drive it one day out of the year and that day just passed.

Here's a couple of 244's that are close. The first is the same colour that I'm painting mine.


This one is too light...but nice (albeit too low for what I need).

Here's the basic colour combination on a Foose Stallion (what was he thinking with that name - sounds like a Swedish porn star).


I think the stripe in metallic will work.

Ok, I think now I'm finally getting the sleek thing. Taking that Mustang I can see your car with the 78 GT stripe (ie: the thinnest and least obtrusive of the 3 years) done in the grey as the main and the red as the thin highlight stripe. I know you didn't sound too keen on that before but seeing that Mustang really made me see how adding that thin red line, even if you don't do it GT style, really makes it pop without being loud or dare I say trashy. This is really starting to make sense (Ok I'm slow) with that picture.

Its the rule of three.

one primary, one secondary, and one accent. You dont want your colors competing for attention too much. If you will notice on the mustang that the Grey secondary color is very similar in shade and tone to the blue of the rest of the car. try to keep your color similar (at least in tone) to ensure it wont look gaudy. its ok for pinstripes to be loud, as they are so small.

oooo i like the body kit on the second one...a very nice subtle look. Now, i like the orange and black combo, but i dont like the body kit and the chop.
