This little gem popped up on the Volvo Club UK forums last week and everyone was a little confused by the gray interior trim. Nobody has seen gray before. The Wagon is a one owner, unmolested car.

To my knowledge 240 interior trims where limited to navy, black, tan and brown. :)

The closest thing to a grey interior I've ever seen were mid-grey leather seats in a post '90 240.

I've seen a few silver/silver 240s at the JY in my years. Grey or silver is uncommon for sure, but not unpossible.

I think he's talking about dash, console, door handles & pulls, etc.

I don't strictly mean the seats (note the gray headrests too), but I'm referring to the whole interior trim; dash, door cards and trim, carpets, floor trays etc. I asked to see some photos of the rear seats and cargo area but had no reply; no doubt the panel trim is gray too. :o

The actual color of the car is a 'silver green metallic', which I've seen before but it's the gray interior trim I'm intrigued by!

Wasn't going to post this one after I read what Darren was really looking for, this car just has the gray seats, but thought I would anyway for interest sake. I think it's quite a bargain if the km's can be verified as real.

I'd have thought $4500 to be a little pricey for something 'good' and with that kind of KMs... :?

I actually think the all-gray velor/cloth (?) seats in the later 240s are a bit boring. Admittedly, I do love the blue velor interiors... I've always been a big fan of Volvo blue interiors ever since my '79.

Anyway, I blew the dust off my old external and found the pictures of the gray leather seats from a year or so ago. The car was post '90 dark gray sedan (same colour as above Craigslist ad). I'm sure only the seats were gray, as I would have noticed if it had gray trim and saved the other interior shots.

Uh, 31,000 km is practically new? I am seeing lots of "lower" km cars ie: 150-200K in the $2500-3500 range and they seem to be selling. For roughly another $1000-1500 you are looking at a car with more than a 100K less km's than other so called low km cars. Whether or not this car is really as low mileage as they claim remains to be seen, but with 240 prices seeming to be on the rise I'd say it's a bargain if authentic.

That said though, I'd probably be wary of pretty low mileage cars. There's a lot of low mileage / one owner cars that show up on the Volvo Club UK forums (less than 100k KMs) and they need a lot of money invested there-after to have them running as good as they look. Engine/transmission gaskets, seals, tires and whatever else tends to seize up a bit after such a long period of time!

My old '79 245 only had ~96k KMs on the clock and I sold it for ~$1750; the new owner has probably put close to double that figure into the car again (to my shock!!) just so he can use it as a reliable daily commuter! :o

FWIW the ad states 31,000 not 310,000 as you edited and posted, you can ass/u/me it's 310,000 in which case yes $4500 is ridiculous. My point stands, go try and buy a used crapalier or scumfire with 31,000 km for $4500, won't happen. As I have already pointed out it's a longshot that the ad is legit anyway so all of this is probably moot.

In 1980 in the USA we got the color matched trim on dash, door trim and all that stuff.

1981 model year in the rest of world (not sure on canada/mexico) I think. Sven and lars got drunk one night and decided to mess around?

Sorry Darren, the ad has changed since this morning when it was 31,000 (really). Yes, I was really starting to think WTF is he going on about... I am guessing this bozo was getting lots of calls until he realized that his ad was short a zero (unlike the owner himself). But seriously, this ad is more proof that people are starting to ask stupid prices for 240's, they're becoming like old Beetles. Anyway it's all good, sorry for the confusion.

No worries, I was also thinking, WTF is he going on about... He'll have trouble selling that, I reckon!

I've certainly never seen a fully gray interior like that. Seeing the dash in that colour as well really is pretty cool. I like. I really like that silver green metallic colour of that car also.

I'm my experience, a 240 on the west coast is worth more than a 240 here. Case in point is the Volvo Lady in Abbotsford, who makes a living buying good condition 240's, fixing them up and detailing them, and then selling them for 10 g. People out on the coast are willing to pay more. I still doubt a later model 244 with that many k' will fetch what that guy is asking though.
