No, just a bit of suspense for Greg, but I did buy a 1984 244ti parts car this week for $100.
Bit rusty but not too bad. Leather interior is not great but the seat foams are not too bad. Windshield is in good shape, decent Virgos complete with caps and useable rubber. All in all a reasonable amount of stuff for the price.

  Thanks for that...
So where did you get the tuuuurbo? Was it out near Raymond? I was talking to another dude here in town who said he knew of a turbo out in the country, and I'm wondering if this is it.

On a related note: what are you doing with the engine?

Jeezus you're a tough sell. The guy only wanted $300 to begin with. You talked him down to $100? Note to self...before selling Jim anything, triple the asking price...

Hey.... actually it was $200 so I offered a $100 hoping he would split the difference and he just agreed.

It was out near Barons although when the ad first went up I think it came up as being down near Raymond/Magrath, I think the seller might have punched in the wrong PC as it was corrected later. Not too sure about the engine right now thinking of trying to get the car running first to get a feel for what I really have, almost starting to think it's too nice to crush. #-o Seller said it was running but was blowing black smoke (too rich?) now it has no spark. Also if you notice the trunk lid has no intercooler badge, imagine my pleasant surprise when I popped the hood. :D

About 197ish, which means anywhere from 197ish to 500K on a 240.

So I need to go get this parts car and was wondering if anyone has any tricks for loading a dead car on a uhaul trailer. When I picked up the 740ti last year it was all that 3 of us could do to barely get it up on the deck with a slight downhill incline, this time I am looking at having no help. Has anyone winched one on with say a come-along, sounds very slow? I called AMA to see if they would do it with only an in transit permit and they will if I break down on the way. So I was thinking of getting the permit and then calling to say it died in the guys yard and wouldn't re-start.... believable?? The AMA/permit route is only ~$25 for the permit and the tow is free, the uhaul method is more $$ and way more work!

does anyone know if you bypass the neutral safety switch can you jump an auto? I'm assuming the torque converter would slip too much as such low rpm to provide any thrust though...

Good olde fashionede pulley system?

Nope, there will not be any oil pressure in the auto at cranking speed to apply bands/cltches, no oil pressure = no movement

I wonder if you could use one of those ratchet tie-down straps, one of the real heavy ones as a winch. It would probably be too much tension to crank, but those things really let you crank them. I imagine you could also get a chain pully from princess auto and crank it up that way. I've used those for lifting things as heavy as a car.

Matt and I winched his 123gt on to the trailer. Slow process and you need two winches or come-alongs as none of them are long enough to pull the car from the back of the ramp all the way to the resting place on the trailer. A tow rope is good too since the car is a fair distance from any anchor point when it's sitting at the bottom of the ramps. Procedure would be to winch with one as far as you can, then attach the other and start winching. Detach the first one and move it to the next anchor spot and repeat...

As posted elsewhere the seller has offered to help me load this car. We came up with using a long tow strap and jack knifing the trailer to get my truck out of the way a bit. He has a tractor so we will just pull it on with the strap, sounds simple enough will find out Saturday how good the plan was.
