Anyone got a set kicking around? I had a few issues on our Okanagan trip. The front wheel bearings decided to grenade around the Kootenay Pass...outer and inner bearings are basically fried after 5000 miles. They were not too tight, and I don't know why they went. I'm glad my traveling partners decided waste part of their vacation helping me get things sort of fixed instead of leaving me to swear at the 122 all by myself. The front end is literally shaking the front of the car apart...not a fun situation.

Anyway, I picked up a dial indicator along the way and measured the run-out of the wheel hubs and they were over spec at about 7 thou with a new outer bearing installed. At the edge of the rotor that had translated to 15 thou and at the wheel it was a whopping 50 thou! That may have something to do with the wheel bearing trouble. Anyway, the run out, as best as I can tell is the result of me welding on the longer wheel studs (tack a little less next time dumb a$$).

So, in the interest of keeping my life from getting more insane, if I can rebuild a set of hubs instead of having to take my existing hubs out of service for a while that would be great. I don't have a garage at the moment and can't really park the car on the street without hubs while I sort the issue out.

So if anyone has a set of front hubs from a 122 sitting around let me know...if anyone has any great ideas as to why this would happen, dish.

Craig

If 544 disc brake hubs work at all I've got some, otherwise I'll have to have a look through the parts to see if I was given any spares.

Thanks Eric...I've got no idea if 544 hubs work or not, if you have a second - could you compare them to your 122 set?

No such thing as 544 disc brake hubs from the factory, drums only on those. They might be 122 hubs and just what he needs?

The standard upgrade to discs on a 544 is to use 122 hubs. I'm pretty certain that's what they'll be...

Sounds like he's in Fort Mac, and the hubs are probably in Edmonton.

Compared to the thousand or so miles I drove on them in their current state...it's not that far.

Ahhh, so THAT is where that place is. I've been down there dozens of times. I'll post the next time I'm headed that-way, and if somebody wants something, I'll see if I can stop there.
